No, this is not the best of Bogart because The Big Sleep, High Sierra, Dark Passage, and To Have and Have Not are not included. The more accurate title for this set might have been Bogart’s Biggest Hits. The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre and The African Queen never looked so good. The remastering of these classic films make them look great! If you’re a fan of Bogart this is a must-buy. If you’re a fan of classic films, this is a must-buy. I hope Bogart’s other movies are released in similar fashion. GRADE: A
These are all wonderful movies, three pof them directed by John huston and the fourth by the underrated genius of the sudio system, Michael Curtiz – thanks George, everyone should have this set.
Sergio, you’re right about THE BEST OF BOGART. It should be part of everyone’s video library.
I applaud your good taste, though no Bogart collection is complete without SWING YOUR LADY and RETURN OF DR X.
Good point, Dan.
Even the jacket looks terrific.
Patti, glad to have you back! We’ve missed you. I love the cover on THE BEST OF BOGART, too.
As long as the first two are including it will make my “best” list.
Jeff, I’m sure another set of remastered Blu-ray Bogart movies is in the works.
Yes, it’s logical for the other fur you named, and Key Largo, to be on another set. I’m glad they did a good job on the digitizing. Years ago, I went to a Bogey film festival in L.A. and saw all of these, the 8 you mention and Key Largo, over the course of two days, on the big screen. It was great. I’ll be looking for this set.
Rick, I’m a fan of KEY LARGO, too. I’m sure it will show up in the next remastered Blu-ray set.
