In our unrelenting quest to simulate the U.S. economy, we bought a new 2014 Nissan Altima. This is our 9th Nissan in a row. Our Nissans have been trouble-free. Patrick and Katie have totaled two Maximas…and walked away unscathed. That’s a tribute to Nissan engineering and safety. As a matter of procedure, the Nissan financial officer ran a credit check on us. He came back amazed. “Your FICO score is 892! We don’t see a score like that very often,” he exclaimed. We waited until Winter ended (at least we think it’s over) before buying this sleek Brillian Silver Altima (the second photo shows the actual color better). It’s loaded with plenty of goodies!

Prashant, there are plenty of Nissans on the road around here, too. Our Nissans have been trouble-free. I just take them in for routine maintenance and they run and run.

Nice one! Our last new car was in 1971 but that’s OK too.

But does it have an annoying GPS that talks to you?

I know! My sister kept telling me to be sure to get the twins a Garmin (the girls are 16 in June and a car–not a new one!– will be their present) and I said, “Are you kidding? They’ll just download MapQuest on their phones.” She didn’t realize how sophisticated the app is–or how much she could have saved rather than buying a Garmin for her daughter’s car!

I agree, George (and Deb). If I have a problem or we’re trying to find something Jackie just checks her phone.

Jeff, we learned about the power of cell phone GPS when Patrick and Katie bought their iPhones. You’re never lost if you have one.

Art, seeing the caliber of athlete in the NFL today. I’d not only have to buy the Buffalo Bills but also spend millions on player legal defense teams!

Jackie wants to know why you didn’t buy another Maxima.

Of course the top five safety scores this year were Subarus. Just saying.

Jeff, we looked at the Maxima. The Maxima’s trunk is actually smaller than the Altima’s. The Altima has a 5-star safety rating and six air-bags. And, we got a great deal on the Altima.

Nice car, George, drive it in good health. Is it four wheel drive, as a Subaru would have been? The list of cars we’ve had between us are all asian: Acura, Toyota, Mazda, and the two we have now, an Infniti and a Subaru. I’m not sure I’d even look at anything else.

Nice credit score. Ours isn’t so high, but we pay cash for everything (cars, full credit card payoff every month, etc.) but the house so that may have something to do with it.

Rick, we’ve been buying Nissans for the last 20 years. Good cars, no hassles. I think our high credit score has something to do with my 98 AMAZON orders since Christmas. Like you, we pay off the credit cards when the bill rolls in.

Good car, but in my eyes it’s ugly. Fear not, almost all cars are ugly these days. Styling has been lost to the need for fuel efficiency. But the big question is, does it have cup holders?

Bob, this 2014 Altima has 6 cup holders. And 6 air-bags. And 6 cubic feet of space in the trunk. Somehow 6 is the Magic Number for this car.

Stimulating the economy is always the way to go. We can’t touch your 98 orders (98!) but Jackie jsut ordered a couple of hundred dollars worth of stuff from Amazon (household stuff, not books or CDs) with more (one or two Kindles, perhaps) to come.

George, I leased a new Altima in 2013
and I got hooked with Altima. I just moved out of the country to the Caribbean three months ago but gave in the car because it wasn’t worth it to buy and add all taxes and moving fees. But I kept dreaming of my Altima!! So today, now in DR, I just found my car: brand new 2014. Exactly what you got and with very nice deal!!! Just new with all the features, except GPS, no need! So, I’m just a happy camper! My best car ever!

Eva, we’re about ready to buy a new Altima or Nissan Rogue (we’re still debating which to go with), but that 2014 Altima runs great! Glad you’re having a similar experience with yours!
