EASY DEATH By Daniel Boyd (aka, Dan Stumpf)

easy death
You might might not think that a book with the title of Easy Death would be a Christmas book, but you’d be surprised. “Daniel Boyd” (alter-ego of famous DAPA-EM contributor Dan Stumpf) delivers an exciting armored car robbery, but of course there are complications. Getting away with the money in midst of a Christmas blizzard is just the beginning of the problems. The police pursuit and the schemes of competitors makes for edge-of-your-seat suspense. If you’re looking for a thriller with a dash of holiday cheer, pick up a copy of Easy Death.

George, I like these Hard Case imprints though I have only ever come across two in all my reading years; I don’t remember which. The armoured car robbery was the premise of Lionel White’s “Hostage for a Hood” which I read recently. I believe you enjoyed reading White’s “capers.”

George, many thanks for the offer; that is very kind of you. I’ll probably find Hard Case books if I look harder. In fact, some new bookstores would get them for me if I gave them a list of titles. I’ll check that out the next time I visit the bookstores.

I agree totally with George’s review (and there is a nice little historical tie-in that added to my enjoyment) and would just add that the book is set December 20, 1951.

Jeff, I’m thrilled to see Dan’s work as part of the HARD CASE CRIME series. Art Scott has his McGinnis book out, now Dan’s EASY DEATH, and Bill Crider has a story in a new Charlene Harris anthology. DAPA-EMers are doing great!

I think it arrived yesterday, but was whacked away by “Santa” for wrapping, so I’ll have to wait. That makes this and the locked room book so far. I always enjoyed Dan’s spa so expect to like this book.
