Here’s another in the new DC “reboot” of classic superheroes. Batman vs. Robin is the sequel to Son of Batman. The story continues with the discovery of a secret society (Court of Owls). The Court of Owls plans to take control of Gotham by turning Robin (Damian) against his father, Batman. Damian needs to decide between his father’s visions for him and those of Ra’s Al Ghul. If you’re a fan of the Batman and Robin adventures, here’s another installment to enjoy. GRADE: B+
Robin is Batman’s son? Not in my DC universe.
Bob, a lot of changes have been made in the new DC Universe.
These do look like great fun though I always imagine I would need to have someone like you to explain all the embedded continuity references!
Sergio, trust me: it’s not hard to follow the continuity in these new animated features.
What Bob said. Is this to counter the homophobia associated with Batman and Robin?
Patti, there’s a lot going on with this new relationship between Batman and Robin. More teen angst than homophobia.
This storyline is part of “The New 52” and it’s just at crummy-silly as almost all of the rest of them. I’ll take the original storylines. DC shot itself in the foot when it tried to refurbish things so it could keep up with Marvel. It was a huge mistake but now they’re invested in it. Bah.
Rick, I love all those DC comics from the Fifties and Sixties. But, DC now is trying to appeal to a New Generation. I’m not entirely in agreement with the “reboot” (New 52) but I’m willing to give it a chance.
…and 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s. The New 52 didn’t start until about 3 years ago, as I recall it. If I were spending money on comics these days, it would be on the trade collections of the 1990s. Some great story lines.
Rick, I’m with you on the story lines of the past. But, I’m willing to give this new generation of graphic novel writers and artists a shot.
