Amid the turmoil of 2015, your comments provided an island of calm and reason in a sea of disruption. Anyone who’s gone through the End-of-Life process knows what I’m talking about. New comers Maggie and Wolf joined our band of cyber companions. The intelligence and wit of Patti, Jeff, Deb, Rick, Beth, Todd, Art, Bill, Bob, Prashant, Sergio, Carl, Lauren, Steve, Jerry, Stan, Dan, Scott, Jim, John, Randy, James, Kent, and Mathew as well as all of you who make this blog a part of your day raised my spirits during some very Dark Hours. So I want to say thank you.
Thank you very much.
Thank you, too, George. I remain of two minds about the cheesecake (this model is more attractive to me than many featured, fwiw), but do enjoy the range of matter you deal with on the blog. May troubles grow infrequent.
Todd, I always appreciate your frankness and vast knowledge.
I love the broad range of topics you cover: from books to granola bars, from concerts to fountain pens, and everything in between. Plus, how can I not love a blog where I’m permitted to mount a soapbox with what some might find to be dismaying regularity? (As this is an election year, I’m betting my soapbox is going to get a good workout!)
You’re doing a great job, George–but I keep telling you, my photos are for private viewing!
Deb, I try to keep the range of posts wide and varied. Your soapbox is always welcome here!
What Deb said. I’ve probably picked up more books to read from your reviews and recommendations this year than anywhere else. And as Deb said, where else do you get the eclectic coverage of football, cartoons, home improvements (keep stimulating the economy!) alongside the books, movies and television shows?
Nowhere that I know of.
Jeff, your comments add to the ongoing conversations about sports, books, movies, etc. This blog wouldn’t be as vital without you!
I, for one, have no complaints about the pinup photos, but then I’m old and stuck in the past. And of course I enjoy everything else, too. Your posts about new music have provided me with a lot of good listening.
Bill, I have some new music to post about next week! Your comments always bring a smile to my lips!
Your blog always provides food for thought, George, as well as giving me chance to rant and snark in the comments. As for the pinups, I’m with Bill (and I’m not convinced that all of those are of Deb!). Keep up the good work, and may 2016 be filled with good times, good friends, good books, good music, and good food!
Jerry, I’ll try to present the best of the books, music, food, and fun for everyone to enjoy in 2016! And I like your snarky comments, too!
So glad to know you-even if mostly virtually. We are all important to each other, I think.
Patti, knowing you and Phil are out there makes the world a better place!
George, thank you so much for you friendly welcome – and all the others here too!
Your topics and the comments are really interesting, not only the science fiction stuff – though I have to admit that I can’t contribute much re sports, here I stand with Churchill who is supposed to have said “Sport ist Mord” (But that’s probably another urban legend).
Keep up the good work and I’ll stay a faithful reader, I promise to you all!
Wolf, I’m sure I speak for all the participants of this blog in saying your comments and insights are welcome here! Your stories of science fiction writers and their works are fun to read.
thanks for welcoming me to your very interesting blog. I don’t read SF, but i find the posts interesting.
Maggie, you and Wolf added a lot to the quality of the blog in 2015! I try to vary the topics so something of interest will spark a discussion. By the way, my daughter just bought some Qualcomm stock for her Roth IRA!
I’m glad to hear your dau bought some Qualcomm I only have it and Disney and Q. used to be at twice what disney was. Luckily I bought it before the 4way split, so my cost per share is about $9 And my disney came from buying pixar as soon as it came out thanks to my friend scott for being a very early pixar devotee – though he didn’t buy any stock
Maggie, you can’t go wrong owning QUALCOMM or Disney!
Yours is the only blog I follow – full of interesting stuff – books, movies, home improvement projects. It’s all good.
I look forward to enjoying your blog for many years to come.
Thank you, George.
Beth, thanks for your kind words. Your comments brighten up the discussions. We’re looking forward to seeing you in New Orleans!
Happy to be “part of the Kelley blog family”. Yours is the first blog I look every day, followed by the blogs of Patti and Bill. You’re wise to welcome my intelligent and insightful comments, of course, and my mellow, relaxed approach to the idiocy of the world. I love Deb’s soap box, but that’s probably because I’m almost always in agreement. Like Jeff, I get many reading suggestions here at GK org, which lead me to purchases which I probably oughtn’t make. Thank goodness for the library!
As to the pictures, I’m with Todd that this one is more attractive than most. Usually, I can do without.
I’m curious, what’s the count of your posts by genre, I wonder? Non-fiction, mystery, SFF, regular fiction, etc.? Be interesting to know.
Rick, your insightful comments are always welcome. Like you, I’m always in agreement with what Deb has to say from her soapbox. I’ll ask Patrick to crunch the numbers and see what the breakdown of non-fiction, SF, regular fiction, etc. might be and report back when I have the figures.
I’m just here for the nekkid wimmen!
Bob, you are the straw that stirs the drink!
Bob, this was supposed to stay a secret between the two of us – you dirty old citizen, you!
George, your blog never disappoints.
And the stuff you write on it is pretty good, too.
(Seriously, keep up the good work.)
James, coming from a guy who writes a million words a year, your comment is High Praise! I appreciate it!
Thanks for giving a lift to my mornings!
Dan, the feeling is mutual!
Although I don’t comment often, I enjoy your blog (can pass on the NFL stuff) and read it most days.
Kent, your comments are always welcome here. The NFL stuff is winding down.
Dr. Kelley, it has been awesome to be able to keep in touch for all of these years through your blog and to hear your thoughts on various forms of media. I don’t get all of the comments critiquing the pictures of women featured in your blog as they all seem heteronormatively attractive, but I wouldn’t mind the occasional picture of some sexy men 😉
Lauren, you and your brother were among my Best Students ever! It’s great to have you stay in contact through this blog. I’ll work on the photos of attractive men.
Aww, that is so sweet of you to say! I remember when my brother suggested that I take a class with you, I was apprehensive because I did not have a particular interest in business; however, I quickly realized why my brother thought you were so awesome and had recommended your class. I am looking forward to the sexy men photos.
Lauren, many students come into my classes without any strong interest in Business, but I try to show that Business is a central factor in our lives. Knowing how the world works helps us to cope with change.
George, I have enjoyed reading your posts on a variety of books and intend to continue doing so, even though I haven’t been regular in recent weeks.
Prashant, we all appreciate your insightful comments! Your participation makes this blog better!
