SEATTLE SEAHAWKS VS. MINNESOTA VIKINGS and GREEN BAY PACKERS VS. WASHINGTON REDSKINS

The temperature at kickoff in Minnesota will be around 4 degrees Fahrenheit. Although the Seahawks are favored by 5 1/2 points, the cold might change the odds. If Adrian Peterson has a big day, this game could be an upset. The Green Bay Packers haven’t looked like the Green Bay Packers of old lately. Their QB, Aaron Rodgers, has been pummeled by opposing teams. Scoring is down. And Washington is favored by a point. Still, I’m picking the Packers to win in a close game. Who do you think will win these Playoff games?

Bill, without a good QB, no team can progress in the Playoffs. That’s the major reason why the Bills haven’t been in the Playoffs for 16 years.

The Texans’ game was basically over after the opening kickoff. And the Bengals gave an almost Giants-like performance at the end to give away a game they had won. A fumble instead of taking a knee, making the Steelers use their time outs, and kicking another field goal. Then, when your man has coverage and the pass is clearly not going to be caught, you get a 15 yard penalty for headhunting, followed by another personal foul to make sure the kicker has an easier time. Disgraceful.

I would normally pick the Seahawks but let’s see how the weather and the absence of Lynch affects them. Despite the shortcomings of the Packers, I find it hard to believe they will lose to the mediocre Redskins today.

Jeff, great analysis! That 106-yard kickoff return for a TD crushed the spirit of the Texans. The Bengals committed too many boneheaded penalties to win.

I was waiting for Cox to come and fix my phone line, so didn’t see either game. I’m hoping the Packers win, they are really my team now. If not for the cold, I think the Seahawks could walk all over the vikings, who played well last week. I still remember the chargers playing in an ice bowl, many years ago.

I’m still clearing my dvr and have it down to 39%, which a bunch of movies partially watched. I’d be further along, but Antenna TV channel is showing full episodes of the Tonight show with Johnny Carson. Watching him, and remembering Jay Leno and David Letterman make me think about how Juvenile Jimmy Fallon is, something which surprised me. I think Colbert is the closest to the old style late night show host, though I do enjoy jimmy kimmel..

Maggie, I rarely stay up late enough to watch Fallon, Colbert, or Kimmel. And, it seems like their funniest moments go viral on YouTube. Carson was clever and engaging. He was the master of the form.

Seahawks and Packers. We’ll see how the cold affects both teams. If Peterson has a big day, it could be an upset. The Bengals beat themselves. A couple of players should have been ejected.

Rick, the Bengals played an undisciplined game and it cost them. The bitter cold in Minnesota could be a factor in the outcome of that game. Winter returns to Western NY tonight.

Unbelievable. Man, did the Seahawks luck out or what? Not only did he miss an easy field goal, he wasn’t even close.

Jeff, all Bills fans thought of Scott Norwood missing that kick in Super Bowl XXV when the Vikings kicker’s ball went wide.

Well, that was another dominating victory. Right. Bad hold, unreal. I thought the pass interference call was wrong, but it sure seemed certain the Vikings were going to win. I’m flabbergasted. It won’t be any easier in Carolina next week.

Rick, I’m sure you enjoyed Al Michaels recapping all the games they lost in the fourth quarter this year.

Facts are facts, Jeff. So far, with Green Bay ahead 32-18, looks I called both games today. But it ain’t over yet…

I hope Bob didn’t turn the game off early.

I turned off the game after the first quarter! When I came back to it later the Seahawks had scored a TD so I watched a little more! I did see the go-ahead FG and the final minutes of the fourth quarter, including the missed FG!!!!!!! It was a win, but it was ugly and undeserved! I think they’ll do better against Carolina but winning will be damned hard unless Lynch comes back at full strength!!
