The Buffalo Bills, fresh off an ugly win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday, travel from snowy Buffalo to sunny Miami to take on the Dolphins. The Dolphins are favored by 3 1/2 points. These two teams are going nowhere, but I sure plenty of players on both teams are playing for their jobs. How will your favorite NFL team do today?
The Lions are playing the Rams. Little hope for Detroit in this one.
Steve, both the Lions and the Bills are giving us a Forgettable Season.
After a dispiriting 13-10 loss to Dallas (in a game marred by bad officiating, baffling calls on Sean Payton’s part, and the inability of receivers to hang on to balls thrown to them with pinpoint accuracy), the now 10-2 Saints have today off to recharge before taking on the last few games of the season. I’ll be Christmas decorating today—with Christmas music playing in the background—do I’m not sure if I’ll watch any games until tonight.
Deb, I was shocked by that 13-10 Saints loss in Dallas. The Saints usually score 30+ points! But every team can have an “off” night.
Hope for a packers win as always.
Interesting side note about LA sports teams. I went to the Harvest Festival in Pomona yesterday (harrowing experience, blowout in the fast lane of the 57 freeway). This is a big exhibition of crafts, jewelry, food goodies, etc. Many of the booths have sports related items (placemats, stockings, hats and T shirts. NONE of them that I saw had any chargers gear. It was all Rams, even Raiders and lots of other sports (dodgers, angels, lakers)
Maggie, glad you survived that blowout on the 57 freeway! When the temperatures dive into the single digits, the Tire Light on my Nissan Rogue comes on and I have to take it in to the dealership so they can determine whether I just need more air in my tires…or picked up a nail (happened twice this year!).
Don’t you have a tire gauge, George, and a small air compressor? Absolute necessities for any car owner.
Rick, I don’t bother with tire gauges and air compressors. I just take my vehicle to the Nissan Dealership and they check the tires and service them…for free.
George, do you have winter tires on your car?
I remember from my holidays that some cars had “all season tires” – which obviously weren’t as good as winter tires – which btw need a higher pressure afaik.
Here in Europe (Austria, Germany, Hungary and other countries too) there are laws that say you must have winter tires or all season tires in winter – or the police wil lconfiscate your car.
And from your reports and those of a friend of mine living in New England even chains might be a good idea sometimes.
Totally OT:
It happened to their house again (just like last year) that a tree was felled by the snow and destroyed their electricity and internet connection …
Wolf, my Nissan Rogue has all-weather tires and All-Wheel Drive. Of course, if the roads are bad, I just stay home.
The tire warning in my car is so sensitive it lights up if I have a cold drink in the cup holder.
But can the Bills play in warm Miami?
The Giants host the 8-3 Bears at the Meadowlands. They will lose.
Deb, the Saints definitely looked out of sync against the hated Cowboys, but let’s hope it is a wake up call and ends the complacency that can set in after ten straight wins.
Jeff, the Bills showed they couldn’t play in warm Miami, losing 21-17. Next week…the NY Jets.
The Giants blew a 10 point lead with no time left on the clock, and then pulled it out in overtime. Exciting win, especially Odell Beckham’s 49 yard touchdown pass.
I’m with you on the tires and the dealership.
Jeff, amazingly, they won, and in overtime. Is that a bailout for Manning?
Seahawks play the 49ers today, and they should win, but you can never tell with the Seahawks. The Dallas defense looked very strong in that Saints game, I was surprised. This week it seems to be all about the playoff picture and the wild card possibilities.
Rick, the Bills loss in Miami keeps the Dolphins “in the hunt.”
Jeff—John says Sean Payton always overthinks his strategy when the Saints play Dallas because Payton has history with the Cowboys (he was D.C., iirc, but was never offered a Head Coach position with them) and he wants to prove they lost out by letting him walk. His decision to waste one of his two precious challenges so early in the game (on a play that had no hope of being overturned) set the tone. Then the Saints couldn’t score on 4th down and two when they should have gone for the sure field goal and at least got some points on the board. Then not one but two helmet-to-helmets by Dallas on Kamora were not flagged. Not the Saints at their best, to say the least.
I agree, Deb, the officiating in that game was terrible.
As it so often is, these days.
George – I keep an eye on the Green Bay Packers, but I am much more a college football fan.
Packers fired the head coach today.
Rick, Packer fans have been used to winning and making the Playoffs. You can’t fire the team…so the Head Coach gets fired.
That was some finish to the Steelers-Chargers game. Oh my.
Rick, it seemed like the Steelers–with a 23-6 lead–stopping playing in the Second Half. What a collapse!
