Wish you all a happy holiday too!
But shouldn’t that be Indigenous Peoples’ Day?
Columbus was not such a nice person it seems.
OT:
We had our national holiday last Monday:
Reunification Day, when East and West Germany came together again after that horrible “communist” regime.
Wolf, several States have dumped Columbus Day for Indigenous Peoples’ Day. But, I consider Columbus discovering America worth celebrating despite his baggage.
Jeff, our local Libraries are open today. I’m going to a Library Book Sale in Lockport on Thursday.
Jerry House
George, I am at a loss. Today is also World Porridge Day. Should I celebrate Columbus or should I celebrate porridge? The decision weighs heavily on my soul.
Patti, it’s Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend! The International Bridges here are loaded with Canadian cars heading for the U.S. factory outlet malls!
And, after all, they (including my ancestors) Discovered the Americas, while Colombo stumbled across some islands, insisted they must be the Indies, and killed a bunch of people when not also stealing from them and spreading diseases. Alas, Columbus, how far you’ve fallen!
Not even our banks are closed.
Beth, the Stock Market is open today. Columbus Day has lost its luster!
