If you are in the mood for a Summer thrill ride disguised as a buddy movie, you might want to check out the 8-episode series, Ride or Die. Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer have great chemistry and will carry you along for an unpredictable joy ride. Hannah Waddingham plays Judith Burton, a forensic accountant–NOT! Judith is a deadly assassin working for a Secret Agency headed by Bill Nighy.
Octavia Spencer plays Debbie Claybourne who has a 20 year marriage with a British MP named David (Jaime Parker). Debbie is grooming her husband to be the next British Prime Minister when he tells her he wants a divorce. Meanwhile, Judith’s Secret Agency thinks she’s too old (50) to do her job any more. Both women face life-changing situations that will test their friendship.
I’ve watched the first three episodes and I’m hooked! Action, adventure, and humor with gunplay, explosions, chase scenes, and hand-to-hand combat mixed in. What more can you ask for? GRADE: Incomplete but trending towards a B+
Not currently giving Bezos money, but might well catch it eventually. One wonders how much video, lifetimes-full already recorded, will be awaiting our survivors and their heirs…even with some of it “lost” some which way…
Todd, we have our DVR 67% full with programs–mostly Diane’s HALLMARK movies.
For repeated viewing, or because one has to be a Certain Mood to watch one, and she’s stockpiling them for when those moods strike?
Todd, you nailed it. Diane gets in a mood where she wants to see something predictable–with a Happy Ending. I sometimes watch HALLMARK Mystery movies with Diane. About 90$ of the time, I know whodunit.

Yes! We watched the first episode last night and (though a little silly) we enjoyed it a lot. I’ve read books like WOMEN OF A CERTAIN AGE and SECOND SHOT, so I knew what “retirement” meant to the men in charge, but as in the books, killing women with skills is not that easy. It was a nice touch adding in her innocent (but really smart) friend, and I’m sure you enjoyed the book club scene as much as we did. And Jackie’s favorite Bill Nighy wasn’t even in it yet.
