ABBEY ROAD (50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) By The Beatles

Beatles fans will love this new, remixed and remastered version of Abbey Road. It’s hard to believe it’s been 50 years since this album changed the musical landscape of the late 1960s. Abbey Road remains the best selling Beatles album. It’s also an album with mysteries. The Beatles were in the process of breaking up during the recording of these wonderful songs. Despite the friction, John, Paul, George, and Ringo managed to pour their talents into making these tunes memorable.

This deluxe 50th Anniversary Edition includes alternate versions and outtakes of familiar Beatles songs. With the new tweaking of the sound, many of these songs sounded new to me. Do you have a favorite song from Abbey Road. GRADE: A

Not one of my favorite Beatles albums. In fact this might be my least favorite. I find most of this record light weight. Favorite song from Abbey Road is probably Come Together or She Came in through the Bathroom Window.

Although released before “Let It Be,” this was actually the last recording that the Beatles made. I love “Here Comes the Sun” and the “Golden Slumbers/Carry the Weight/The End” medley. Many years ago, I saw Paul McCartney during his “Flowers in the Dirt” tour and those three songs were his final encore. If there was a dry eye in the house, I didn’t see it.

Deb, I like “Here Comes the Sun,” too. I always thought the sound on ABBEY ROAD was better than any other Beatles album. And now, this 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition sounds even better!

I may be in the minority here, but I’ve always liked ABBEY ROAD, though it is not my favorite by any means. I like “Here Comes the Sun” and “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window” – though I far prefer the Joe Cocker version – and the end medley. And in the right mood, “Something.”

        Yes, it was a miracle!
And his performance of this catapulted Joe to the front of Rock.
His fantastic “Mad Dogs and Englishmen” tour through the USA also was gigantic, though not a financial success!

Perhaps not my favorite Beatles album, that may still be Revolver, but mighty good. This looks like the CD I have plus two more of extraneous cuts and gaffs, none of which I’d need. I bought the Beatles albums as they were initially realest on CD (long ago, now) and am still happy with them as they are. I had them all on vinyl, but wanted the CD versions. I still listen to those CDs (now also downloaded to my computer).

I’ve been hearing some remastered Beatles songs on YouTube and they never seem as good as the originals! I like this album just fine, even if there are some songs that don’t rise about the horizon! But there are so many good and great ones it doesn’t matter! Beatles then, Beatles now, Beatles forever!!!

In the late 60s we didn’t listen to the Beatles at all – my friends would have called me a “softie” which was devastating. The Rolling Stones were played all the time at our parties and then also other groups that really rocked!.
Beatles were for “Weicheier” (weak balls …) 🙂
