ALOHA

You would think that with a cast of Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Bill Murray, and Alec Baldwin you’d be able to make a pretty good movie. But, if you’re Cameron Crowe directing Aloha things are not going to turn out well. The romantic comedy isn’t comedic or romantic. The story about a billionaire launching a suspicious satellite is lame. Only the delightful Rachel McAdams and Emma Stone lighting up the movie screen saves this movie. GRADE: C

Jackie was very disappointed in the reviews because she was really looking forward to this. She’s next pinning her hopes on SPY with Melissa McCarthy.

Bill, the highlight of ALOHA was the dance Bill Murray and Emma Stone did to Hall & Oates’ “I Can’t Go For That.”

Jackie was excited to find that Miranda Hart is in SPY.

We will definitely watch ALOHA when it gets to cable.

I wonder why you bothered going to, and paying for, a movie with poor reviews. Obviously, star power was the pull, but sounds like a waste of time. I read one of the books in the Nameless series by Pronzini instead.

Rick, this was a choice of the other couple we went out with. I lobbied for MAD MAX: FURY ROAD but they wanted to see “something funny.”

I have absolutely no interest in this one–despite the attractive cast. However, I actually may bestir myself to see SPY in the theater, even if the most recent wave of ads seem determined to de-emphasize Melissa McCarthy’s participation.

Aloha looked terrible in the previews. Cameron Crowe used to make good movies but has been going downhill as of late. Still love Almost Famous tho. We went to see The Connection this weekend. A good French crime movie about the French Connection told from the viewpoint of the French.
