ANOTHER BUFFALO BILL-LESS SUNDAY

nfl cheerleaders
As a result of the devastating 22-9 loss to Miami last Thursday night, the Bills have this Sunday off to reflect on “what could have been.” Wins over the Texans, Chiefs, or Dolphins (all teams the Bills had leads on at critical times in their games) could have saved their season. Now, at 5-5 the Bills are going nowhere. New owners, Terry and Kim Pegula, will make Big Changes based on the mediocrity of this team and its coaching staff. How is your favorite NFL team going to perform today?

Since the Giants now officially have The Worst Defense in the NFL the odds they will beat the 49ers at 1 today are not good.

Jeff, the 49ers look much improved. The Giants have the former Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator. I’m not surprised by the Giants’ poor defense.

Oh, I see you found a picture of me and a few friends just, ya know, lounging around!

But in the real world, after last week’s heartbreaking loss (a last-second Hail Mary touchdown called back, a loss in overtime), the now 4-5 Saints limp toward the end if the season with a home game against the Bengals. Last week’s loss broke the Saints’ 11-game home winning streak and I’m not sure about today’s game. I hate to sound like a fair-weather fan, but I have errands to run today and the way to make sure you have empty stores and short lines down here is to shop during Saints’ games, so that might be my strategy today!

Deb, I love your tan! And you have some cute friends! The Saints will get back to winning today. The Bengals seem hopeless. Diane did some Christmas shopping yesterday.

Seattle at Kansas City. If Wilson can find some receivers today, to balance the running attack, he Seahawks should beat the Chiefs, who are no pushover, as your Bills discovered. It’s the early game (10:00 here, or “the brunch game” as it’s sometimes called in the west) so we’ll watch. Besides it’s too cold (20s, low 30s) to be out and about much anyway.

On the college front, with #1 Mississippi State losing to ‘Bama, #2 Oregon may move up, and with Oregon State beating Arizona State, the Pac 12 playoff picture just got very interesting.

Rick, the Bills had the Chiefs on the ropes, but two turnovers gave the Chiefs the win. I’m sure there will be more changes in the college Playoff picture in the weeks ahead.

For some reason we are getting the 0-9 Raiders at San Diego as one of the late afternoon games today, along with the Eagles getting a reality check in Green Bay. The Giants game is at 1.

Jeff, we’re getting the 49ers/Giants game and the Seahawks/Chiefs game at 1:00. We get the Eagles/Packers game at 4:15. I’m looking forward to the Patiots/Colts game tonight.

Bah. That was pass interference in the end zone the refs failed to call. Doesn’t matter, I guess, “if they don’t call it, it didn’t happen”, right? Bah. Maybe of the Seahawks lose enough more games, they’ll get a good draft choice. They sure won’t get much out of the Jets’ fourth round pick (that they got for Harvin, who cost them a #1). I was surprised the Rams beat Denver.

The afternoon games here are Chargers-Raiders and Lions-Cardinals. I think I’ll read.

I don’t recall one pass interference call in the Seahawk game. Also, I was not happy with the two fourth down plays in the 4th quarter. The Seahawks looked lame.

Even with five mostly inexcusable interceptions, the Giants were in position to win that game. They had some of the worst play calling I’ve ever seen. First and goal at the four and they didn’t try to run even once, they didn’t play fake or have Eli roll out, they didn’t look for the tight end or a running back. Instead he tried four passes to the wide receivers and finally, inevitably, #4 became interception #5.

I was shocked by Denver losing in St. Louis.

Jeff, you can’t win when you throw 5 interceptions. Eli is really struggling. The Rams are an improving team. They’ll have a winning record next season.
