ATLANTA FALCONS VS. BUFFALO BILLS

atlanta falcons
Some Bills fans think their team can still make the Playoffs. There is still a remote mathematical probability of this happening. But the Bills–who haven’t won two games in a row all season long–would have to win FIVE straight games. Not likely. The Bills are 3-point favorites in this “home game” played in Toronto, Canada. Atlanta has problems defending against the run so I suspect the Bills’ ground game will be featured this week. The Bills are coming off a Bye with most of their players healthy. How is your favorite NFL team going to fare today?

The Giants season, like that of the Bills, is essentially over, so who really cares? They have a history of tanking once it is clear the playoffs are not going to happen so I’m not optimistic. They play RGIII and the Redskins in D. C. today (and again here in a couple of weeks), plus Seattle and Detroit and San Diego, three teams that still have a legitimate chance of making the playoffs.

    (possible duplicate post–if so, apologies)

The 9-2 Saints meet the 10-1 Seahawks for the Monday night game tomorrow night in Seattle. Despite being an ardent member if the Who-Dat Nation, I’m also a realist and I think this might be the one game if the season where the Saints really get a beat-down put on them. Oh well, as the old saying goes, hope for the best, expect the worst.

I look on the Sunday night game as the Aint Bowl. Neither of them are going anywhere. Panthers should win and that’s when I fear the most. Teams seem to lose the ones they are supposed to win.

Way back in the day, when the NFC west was the Niners, Rams, Falcons and Saints, the Niner-Ram game was one of the biggest rivalry games in the league. They play today and it should be an interesting game. The NFC West is the toughest conference in the league.

Monday night Deb and I go head to head. I think turnovers and injuries will decide. I’m hoping Lynch has a big game. You are right, George, it could be a preview of the NFC title game.

Did anyone else see the incredible ending to the Iron Bowl yesterday? I have never seen a field goal attempt, unless it was blocked, run back like that.

Rick, I watched the Iron Bowl in Real Time. When Nick Saban went for the 56-yard field goal instead of a Hail Mary, I knew there would be Trouble. And, sure enough that decision came back to bite him.

Sorry to see that Atlanta pulled off a meaningless win. And the Chiefs managed to start strong and then not keep going strong, giving the Broncos the tiebreak over them and virtually guaranteeing that no playoff game will go through KC this year. If they don’t start stringing a few wins together they might just miss out entirely.

Carl, the Bills collapse at the end of the game didn’t surprise me. They’ve had inconsistent play all season long. And you can’t win if you commit two fumbles at critical points in the game.

I watched the last 4 minutes of the Iron Bowl in replay yesterday. The whole clock ran out-no it didn’t thing was also bizarre. I don’t think the field goal try was out of line, but they should have covered the possibility of a short or wide kick. That cost them the title game. I guarantee no one will want to play ‘Bama in a bowl game.

Rick, a “Hail Mary” had a better probability of working (there’s always a chance of a penalty) than a 56-yard field goal attempt. Bad decision.

The Iron Bowl finale was the best finish of any football game I’ve ever seen. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for tonight’s Seahawks/Saints game. We just had a couple of idiots suspended for smoking dope. Ironic, since smoking dope is now legal in this state.

It was great to be able to relax and watch the Seahawks run wild. They scored on two freak plays, which made it even more fun. Yee-Hah!

Sorry to disagree, George, but I think a field goal is always a better call than a fourth down hail Mary, if the team is in the kicker’s distance, which Alabama was.
