BACK TO SUPERCUTS!

My last SUPERCUTS haircut was in February 2020. When the coronavirus hit, all barbershops and hair salons closed in New York State. Now that we’re in Phase 2 of the Reopening, barbershops and hair salons are now open for business. Today, I’m getting my hair cut. Diane has an appointment with her hairstylist on Friday.

Diane did cut my hair about a month ago (you can read about it here). But Diane learned that a career in hair design was not for her. So I’m heading back to SUPERCUTS. With the temperatures in the 90s here today, less hair will feel much much cooler. How are you and your hair getting along?

Fine. Jackie gave me another trim last week.

I helped her dye her hair again over the weekend, but it is getting way too long for her, especially in the hot weather. She spoke to her hairdresser yesterday – who, like you, is enjoying staying home – and can’t wait until she reopens and Jackie can get her hair cut.

Jeff, the temperatures are supposed to be in the 90s today with high humidity. By this afternoon, the “Real Feel” will be 99 degrees! I can’t wait to get all this hair off my head so I can feel cooler!

I also use Supercuts and was already well overdue when the plague hit in March. Barber shops have already been open for a while here but even with what little hair I have driving me crazy I’ve been reluctant to get out and do it. Maybe next week. Or not.

Michael, I’m usually in-and-out of SUPERCUTS in 10 minutes. It will be hard for the coronavirus to hit a moving target.

My hair is a shaggy mess—I’m waaaay overdue for a cut. In fact, I even have a note on my To Do list for today to call the woman who cuts my hair. I’ll wear a mask, of course. All I get is a shampoo & cut. Hair dye, perms, & blow-drying and I came to a parting of the ways several years ago.

Deb, Diane refuses to tolerate any gray hair so her hairstylist, Rita, restores Diane’s red hair every five weeks or so. I’ve had short hair for most of my life so this long hair (for me) is uncomfortable. I also want to help the workers at SUPERCUTS who probably haven’t gotten a paycheck since March. Whoever cuts my hair today will receive a Big Tip!

My wife used to liighten her blonde hair a bit as it was turning grey. Earlier this year she decided she was too old for this (she’s 75, like me a war child …). So a week ago we invited our hairdresser to cut hers and mine too in our house. The advantage there is of course that you can wash your hair just before the hairdresser arrives – she prefers to work on wet hair …
But still my hair has to go down over the ears – have had long hair for more than 55 years.
I still remember the looks I got in the 70s and 80s from IT managers …

Wolf, I had long hair and a beard when I was going to college. But, after that, I reverted to the short hair cut I enjoyed in my youth. Plus, back in the day, there were “dress codes” for teachers and Professors. Long hair was verboten.

Maybe Germany was a bit more liberal then?
I’ve surely told the story before how I was asked to accompany some IT managers to the USA (paid of course …) for visits to IBM, the World Bank etc …
Some people looked at me, my beard and my hair – but I was the “spokesman” of the group with the best knowledge of English – and IT … 🙂 🙂

Wolf, now many IT workers are working from home. They can dress any way they want and grow their hair down to their knees!

My stylist let me come to her home, which worked out very well as she lives quite close to me.
Given Joe’s medical issues, his barber comes to him.
At least our hair wasn’t scary.

Beth, several of our friends went the “barber/hairstylist-in-your-home” route and it worked out fine. I’m just glad New York State’s coronavirus numbers are falling so we can reopen safely. Unfortunately, the coronavirus numbers are surging in other states. My sister lives in Arizona and she says the pandemic is raging there!

Our younger daughter gave me a buzz cut on Sunday, shortest my hair has been since 7th Grade, maybe shortest ever. Man does it feel good. I was tired of how long it had gotten after three months, but still not quite ready to venture into the shop. New COVID cases in Austin, where bars reopened a couple of weeks ago, are still increasing.

Austin is also one of my favourite US cities, I have fond memories. I’ve told that story before …
We’ve discussed Austin and Rock Music already 5 years ago …

All you need is clippers and a mirror, George, no need to drink the “professional hair cut” Cool-Aid. I haven’t been to a barber in a few years. I use the clippers and a mirror method. Ever think about why women go to salons to have a stylist do hair, while males just get a haircut?

Rick, I’m just a creature of habit. I’ve been going to this local SUPERCUTS for about 12 years. I just returned from getting my haircut: 13 minutes from start to finish. And it would have been even faster if the phone hadn’t been ringing constantly with people trying to book a hair appointment (SUPERCUTS is booked solid through Saturday).

I got my hair cut last week, my first time since March 20th, so not quite as long as you. I knew the shut down was coming so had them cut it short, but I was still amazed at how much came off while they were cutting my hair. Felt so amazing and still does. Oh how I missed the little things.
