BANNERLESS By Carrie Vaughn

Carrie Vaughn’s latest Young Adult novel is set in near-future society that has been devastated by disease and super-storms. Enid, a young investigator, is brought to a rural town to investigate the death of a handy man named Sero. The community has a lot of secrets that Enid slowly unravels. I’ve enjoyed Carrie Vaughn’s work, especially Martians Abroad (you can read my review here). If you’re in the mood for a clever SF mystery, give Bannerless a try. GRADE: B+

Maybe I’ll give it a go. The library has it. Never was interested in her writings. She wrote all those Kitty books which I avoided like the plague.
Saw Blade Runner 2049. My favorite movie this year. If Roger Deakins does not win a Oscar for his cinematography there is no justice-he has been nominated 13 times w/o a win.

Dan, I liked Carrie Vaughn’s MARTIANS ABROAD more than BANNERLESS. But the strong female characters should appeal to your niece.

OK, the library had two ebook copies available so I downloaded one to the Kindle. I can read it on the road.

Wish eveybody a lot of fun and action at Bouchercon!

Haven’t been to a con for a long time – in Germany these are usually “Sercons” i e serious conventions with a lot of important talks, not so much fun …
So I stopped going there a long time ago, don’t even know if we still have them …

Wolf, I rarely go to cons anymore, but I make an exception for BOUCHERCON. Plus, Toronto is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Buffalo!
