BLACK PANTHER

Chadwick Boseman (best known for playing Jackie Robinson and Thurgood Marshall) stars as T’Challa, King of Wakanda. Wakanda is an African nation that hides its true identity by cloaking its modern city and high technology from the world. An evil arms merchant (is there any other kind?), Ulysses Klaue (played by Andy Serkis), stole vibranium, the most precious metal in the Universe (most of it is in Wakanda). T’Challa, his General Okoye (Danai Gurira), and his love interest Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) head for South Korea where Klaue plans to sell the vibranium to a CIA agent (played by Martin Freeman). We learn that Klaue had help in his theft: Michael B. Jackson as Erik Killmonger (love these names!). But Killmonger has a deeper strategy than just selling arms.

I expect Black Panther to make oodles of money. The night we went all five AMC theaters were Sold-Out. My only quibble is with the Final Confrontation which I found tedious and its Aftermath which I found mawkish. If you’re looking for action, Black Panther delivers. GRADE: A-

I really want to see this.

Snopes is a necessity in this world of fake news & alternative facts. It’s based here in San Diego

Since this is President’s Week and I’m sure a lot of schools are out and kids are down here visiting Grandma and Grandpa, we’re going to wait another week or so to see this.

Rick, the local school systems used to give the teachers and students TWO WEEKS off at Easter. Now, to save money on heating bills, most local school districts have a “Presidents Week” holiday and only ONE WEEK off around Easter. It’s always about the money.

Rick, sadly schools are considered by many parents as baby-sitting services for their kids. And many parents take their kids out of school for vacations whenever they feel like it. Public education is a joke today.

Art, how right you are! The WALL STREET JOURNAL gave the net worth of the wealthiest Super Heroes. Bruce Wayne is worth $9.2 billion dollars (Wayne Enterprises is worth $31.4 billion). Tony Stark’s net worth is $12.8 billion (Stark Enterprises is worth $20.6 billion). T’Challa (the Black Panther) is worth $90 trillion dollars because of his monopoly on vibranium.

Rick, they used to have Lincoln’s and Washington’s birthdays off. In NYC at least, they combined them.with three other days, which they added to the beginning of the school year.

I don’t really need another loud, hugger-mugger action movie!

When I went to school–and walked uphill in the snow both ways–we got Lincoln’s birthday and Washington’s birthday off separately and to hell with those other White House scoundrels! I don’t think our local schools get the week off but I can’t swear to it!
