BROADCHURCH, SEASON THREE FINALE [BBC America]

I watched the first two Broadchurch series including the “American” version. They dealt with the death of a young boy. If you’re a fan of police procedurals, you’ll find these Broadchurch episodes compelling. In Broadchurch 3, the two lead police investigators played by David Tennant and Olivia Colman, investigate the sexual assault of a local middle-aged woman in the fictional, close-knit coastal town of Broadchurch in Dorset, England. Everyone in this small community has secrets and slowly Tennent and Colman discover them.

No explosions, no kung fu fighting, just intelligent investigation of a brutal crime. This is supposed to be the series finale, but I’m hoping Broadchurch returns to deliver more suspense and thrills. GRADE: A

Don’t find myself liking season 3 as much as the first two. The case isn’t as interesting and I find myself disliking the character of the victim for soime reason.

The first season was riveting. By the middle of the second season, I’m afraid I had a “why am I watching this?” moment and stopped watching.

I watched the first season of both the UK and US editions. I liked the UK much better, but neither were enough to compel me to watch the second season. I do like David Tennant, who is my favorite “doctor”, though I’ve only watched with 3 (Matt Smith, Tennant and Peter Capaldi)

David Tennant is now the voice of Scrooge McDuck. I’m hopping that thought will not intrude as I watch him in season three of BROADCHURCH.

We watched Season 2 recently (and recorded Season 3), after watching Tennant as the evil Kilgrave in JESSICA JONES. I didn’t love it, but they did a good job moving things along. We’ll start watching the new series soon.

Apparently it really will be the last – not least because writer-producer Chris Chibnall has now taken over as showrunner of DOCTOR WHO. Much as I enjoyed the first series, I thought the second disappointing. The third was a distinct improvement, but to me it really felt like it had run its course.

Wow. My comment from this morning disappeared. I missed the second season but enjoyed this one. I especially like the relationship between the two leads and yes, she is not a likable character.

Patti, I figured out who the rapist was, but there was a twist in the rape of Trish Winterman that I hadn’t anticipated. I’m going to miss BROADCHURCH. I like the cast and the procedural format.
