BUFFALO BILLS VS. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

The Buffalo Bills are still alive in the Playoff hunt because of their 24-16 win over the Miami Dolphins last Sunday. But, today, the Bills take on the AFC East Champs–the New England Patriots–in a game that probably will cast the Bills out of contention with a loss. The Patriots are 12-point favorites. The Bills are riddled by injuries. Tom Brady has a 27-3 record against the Bills. How will your favorite NFL team fare today?

For once, it pays the Giants to not even try and win. As a 2-12 team, they need to cement their position in the draft more than a meaningless late season win in Arizona (which is unlikely to happen, anyway).

Assuming the Bills lost and win next week, is there any chance? Probably not, right?

The 10-4 Saints meet the 9-5 Falcons in the Superdome today in a game that has playoff and home-field consequences. I believe the Saints are favored, but not by much. I’ve finished my Christmas shopping and wrapping, so will be watching the game while doing my usual Sunday chore: laundry. Football is one thing, but dirty clothes are always with us.

What? Not making Christmas dinner tonight? Barbara is making standing rib roast, mashed potatoes, gravy, cornbread, green beans almondine, and we have cheesecake. We like the big dinner on Christmas Eve (along with some spiked nog later) and then have a big breakfast and, later, leftovers n the day.

Go Saints! The Seahawks are pretty much out of it this year, but that’s okay.

We’re going to the theater this afternoon. We have a matinee of the British hit THE CHILDREN, which has the original British cast of Francesca Annis, Ron Cook, and Deborah Findlay. The perfect depressing subject for the Trump Era.

As I understand it, the Saints can’t clinch today even assuming they win unless the Panthers lose (unlikely) to the Buccaneers.

We have freezing rain here this morning, so we’re glad we don’t have to go anywhere today. The Seahawks, play Dallas, who is favored by 5, and will likely lose by more than that. Elliot is back and the Seahawks D-line will have a job of it if he is in shape. I’ve never seen the team so injured. Seahawks have to win out and may still need help and I don’t see it happening. On to next year.

Jeff, the Giants should still be trying their best for pride and to secure positions on the team for the future. I never like any suggestion a team would quit so they can get a better draft position.

Sadly, Rick, they are trying. They’re just not any good this year. The injuries didn’t help, of course.

Your dinner sounds great, by the way. Enjoy!

Seattle surprised us by winning and not looking too bad doing so. One more win and an Atlanta loss, and maybe…..

The dinner was great, and the cheesecake and a glass of bubbly. It started snowing here about 4pm, so it will be a white Christmas for us. Excellent.
