BUFFALO BILLS VS. PITTSBURGH STEELERS

buffalo bills vs. pittsburgh steelers
The hapless 3-6 Buffalo Bills take on the 2-5 Pittsburgh Steelers in a game both teams desperately want to win. Injured rookie QB E.J. Manuel returns after being off for four weeks with a sprained LCL. My brother is a physical therapist and he told me that LCL problems can easily reoccur if the knee isn’t strong enough. We’ll have to see if E. J. Manuel can make it through the entire game today without getting reinjured. How is your favorite NFL team going to do today?

The Giants are hosting the Raiders. They should win but I have no confidence they will win the way this season has gone so far. I think all the hype locally about how the Giants could still make the playoffs is just wishful thinking.

I’m rooting for the Saints to beat the hated Cowboys tonight.

After a loss that made the .500 Jets look like Super Bowl contenders, the 6-2 Saints return home to meet the 5-4 Cowboys in the Superdome. As many others have noted, the Saints are a very different team at home versus on the road. It’s the Sunday night game, so I’m hoping I’ll have something to cheer about before I go to bed.

George, the NY Times today called the Bills out for the worst play calling ever, on the attempted pass from the 1 yard line that resulted in a 100 yard runback when they were up on Kansas City 10-3.

Seattle plays Atlanta (semi-final playoffs last year) at Atlanta and though the Falcons have a poor record, they could be a handful for a Seahawk team that has shown weakness against the run the last three weeks. I hope Seattle can win convincingly, as they ought. Buffalo fans should hope for a .500 season, not playoffs.

I hate the Stealers so I want to see them win no matter who they play. Go, Bills! I’m worried about the Seahawks. They’ve eked out wins against teams they should have whupped and they can’t keep dodging bullets every week.

Bob, the Bills have only won twice in Pittsburgh–and the last win was in the 1990s. It will be a tough game. We’re also in a High Wind Advisory (wind gusts of 60 mph) and Pittsburgh is getting the same weather.

Seattle is having no trouble. Unfortunately for George, neither are the Steelers. The Giants pulled it out in the second half.

Jeff, E. J. Manuel looked lost facing the Pittsburgh defense. CBS a commentator said that Pittsburgh Defensive Coordinator, Dick LeBeau, is 17-2 against rookie quarterbacks. Now LeBeau is 18-2.

Rick, all three phases of the Bills took the day off: no offense, no defense (the Steelers scored 23 straight points), and Special Teams were not very special giving up a long runback in the Fourth Quarter to seal the win for the Steelers. Time to start thinking about the 2014 NFL Draft.

Patti, I think the Lions will cruise to the Division Championship now that Aaron Rogers is hurt. The Vikings and Bears are no threat to the Lions. Plus, they have Megatron–the best player in the NFL!

Other than the Bills and Broncos games, I was pretty satisfied with Sunday’s results. Also shocked at the way the Niners lost. I hope they play that poorly when the Seahawks meet them later this year.

Unfortunately the Giants still have the Seahawks ahead of them as well as the Lions. Next week, Green Bay and a third string quarterback.

Jeff, the Bills know all about starting third (and fourth!) string QBs because of injuries. The results are not pretty. The Giants are still a factor in the NFC East.
