The 5-0 Cincinnati Bengals come to town to face the banged-up Buffalo Bills. Who will play quarterback for the Bills this week? Tyrod Taylor has a sprained MCL. Backup E.J. Manuel is a…backup. Wide receiver Sammy Watkins has a calf injury. High priced LeSean McCoy has a ham-string injury. The Bills rookie running back Karlos Williams has a concussion. This could be a Blowout Game. How will your favorite NFL team do today?
They won’t.
The Giants play Monday night in Philadelphia, a very tough venue. If they can somehow pull off the win they will be in good shape despite the 0-2 start, with the decimated Cowboys and Saints coming up next.
We’ll see.
Jeff, the Eagles have been a mystery team to me. The Eagles looked great in pre-season, then they stumbled in the first couple of games, and then the Eagles exploded against the Saints. I think the Giants should win in Philly.
After last Sunday’s embarrassing Saints loss to the Eagles (a real blow-out, compounded by the fact the both teams had identical losing records), the Who-Dat Nation experienced a completely unexpected ray of sunshine this week on Thursday Night Football where the boys in black-and-gold handed a decisive loss to the hitherto undefeated Atlanta Falcons. There are smiles in the Big Easy today–not least of all because we know the Saints can’t lose…because they aren’t playing.
I plan to help my twins with their college applications and watch the Mets-Cubs LCS game.
Deb, you have my sympathies with filling out those college applications. The financial aid applicants are really pains! The Saints looked great against the mighty Falcons!
The Cowboys have a bye. The way they’ve been playing, they might even lose that.
Buzzfeed picks the Bills over the Bengals. Hey, it could happen.
Bill, I think Buzzfeed needs to be drug-tested after picking the Bills. The game-time temperatures will be in the 40s! I hear rumors that Matt Cassel (former Buffalo Bill QB) might start.
The Saints looked good in the little I saw on Thursday.
Let’s go, Bills!
Jeff, the Big Question is Who Will Show UP for this game. Rex Ryan has been coy about his injured players.
The NY Times is picking the Bills too, so be careful.
Jeff, I’m baffled by Buzzfeed and the NY TIMES and some sports web sites picking the Bills to defeat the 5-0 Bengals. The Bills’ starting QB is out with a sprained MCL. Backup QB E.J. Manuel isn’t ready for Prime Time. LeSean McCoy has a hamstring problem. I don’t see how the Bills could possibly win this game.
Defense?
Jeff, the invisible Bills defense is mystifying. The Bills spent millions on their defensive linemen who couldn’t sack Andy Dalton ONCE today! Next week, the Bills play the Jaguars in London.
I pick Lions over Bears. Eagles should be better than they are. If Manuel is the backup, why isn’t he ready to play after two seasons?
Tinker, E.J. Manuel has a tendency to throw interceptions at critical moments in the a game. Many Bills fans thought E.J. would be cut at the end of the preseason.
I guess it proves that you know the Bills better than the so-called “expert” odds makers.
The Bills got their asses handed to them. So far the only thing good about this week is that the Rams and Cardinals lost. I hope the 49er’s do, too. That way, the Seahawks won’t lose any ground. I’m expecting them to lose, also. Football, bah!
Bob, I found that last TD by Carolina shocking! The LEGION OF BOOM messed up on that play! Of course, the Panthers vs. Seahawks game was a lot closer than the Bengals vs. the Bills.
They lost their second game by the same screwup–not setting up a deep prevent defense. Note, too, that I didn’t watch most of the first half and the Seahawks get a lead. I did watch the second half and they went to hell. I’m convinced I’m a jinx.
Too bad about the Bills, but I’m glad to see the Bengals (who beat the ‘Hawks last week) having a solid season.
Bob, Thom Walls told me in Raleigh that when he watches the Seahawks, they lose.
