CINCINNATI BENGALS VS. BUFFALO BILLS

Cincinnati+Bengals
The Bills lost more than a game in Cleveland. Rookie QB E.J. Manuel strained his LCL and is out six to eight weeks. The Bills activated Thaddeus Lewis from their practice squad to fill in at quarterback. I dubious about this strategy. But the Bills intend to run the ball a lot on offense and hope the defense can keep them in the game against the Bengals. The weather today is supposed to be perfect: sunny and 70. How is your favorite NFL team going to do today?

The 5-0 Saints meet the 4-1 Patriots in Foxborough this afternoon. I hope the boys in black and gold will not be too complacent; yes, the Patriots had a stinging loss last week, but Brady will be looking to redeem himself–and what better way than by handing one of the three undefeated NFL teams their first loss. I expect a low-scoring game with lots of turnovers and field goals.

I have a sure thing – the Giants (0-6) aer NOT going to lose today, guaranteed.

Of course, they aren’t playing until next Monday night. What a nightmare.

    Miscellaneous pro football comments:
Atheist group wants Saints to change name. Also wants Arizona Cardinals and Stanford Cardinal to change name.
Native American group wants Redskins to change name. In honor of Congress I suggest “Washington Idlers”
Bird Protectionist League wants Seahawks, Cardinals, Eagles, Falcons, Ravens to change name.

Today, Seattle should win, but Houston will give them a hard time.
San Francisco will probably beat Arizona.
Broncos game could see records set, if Manning plays whole game.
New York Giants consider changing name but no one can decide on a new one. I suggest NY “Pathetics”. One thing that’s been proved: Eli ain’t his brother.

Apologies to Jeff, I just couldn’t resist. George, I’m afraid Buffalo will have a tough time of it today.

Seahawks will return to the win column.

Good post, Rick, but the Stanford Cardinal aren’t named for the bird or clergymen. It’s the color cardinal red. Houston might give the Seahawks a hard time, but they’re playing the Titans. We beat Houston already.

I know that, Bob, and well remember when they changed from the Stanford Indians to the COLOR Cardinal in the 1970s. It’s the dumb name-changer people I was implying wouldn’t know. It was a joke, see?

Rick, Jeff, and Bob: the Bills played a tough game with a practice squad QB leading them to an almost-win. But close doesn’t count in the NFL. If I were a betting man, I’d take Jacksonville and the 28 points. If I were the Broncos, I’d rest Peyton as soon as he scores 30 points.

New England is not 6-0, they are 5-1. I think Denver is 6-0, but I didn’t catch the final score of their game–too busy watching baseball and trying to forget about the Saints loss.

Every time I checked the Pats seemed to be three points ahead. Bummer. George would have owon his bet as the Jaguars “only lost by 17. New England is beatable but I don’t see the Jets winning there next week.
