Gaudy patter and plenty of mayhem. That’s the formula in Deadpool 2. Ryan Reynolds’s unkillable character assembles a team of goofy superheroes (X-FORCE!) to take on Cable (Josh Brolin), a soldier from the Future. A teenage mutant named Russell (Julian Dennison) is about to kill his school’s Principal which will turn him into a mass murderer who kills Cable’s wife and daughter in the Future. Cable has time travelled to our era to eliminate Russell. Deadpool decides he can “save” Russell before he kills. Along the way, there are explosions, decapitations, and lots of blood. My favorite character is Domino (Zazie Beetz) whose superpower, Luck, comes in handy. If you’re in the mood for a silly–but gory–Summer Movie, Deadpool 2 will punch your ticket. GRADE: B+
I enjoyed it. Worst soundtrack ever tho. Played up the gay angle a lot. Wish they hadn’t killed off Peter.
Steve, I’m with you on the soundtrack. I don’t know what MARVEL’s musical strategy is but I won’t be buying any of their movie soundtracks.
I’m looking forward to this more than The Avengers, frankly. The first one was a lot of violent fun.
Jeff, I have a friend who has seen DEADPOOL 2 three times so far. The jokes come so fast and furious that it’s hard to catch them all in the first viewing. I plan to buy the Blu-ray when it comes out.
Seems to me Marvel is really scraping the bottom f the barrel with Deadpool movies. They would be better served using their primary characters in smaller, more interesting films. I wouldn’t waste a dime or a minute on this one.
Rick, MARVEL is raking in hundreds of millions of dollars on DEADPOOL 2, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, and BLACK PANTHER. But I wonder when super-hero fatigue will set in.
The latter 2 you list are worthy, but Deadpool? Nah. I do expect fatigue to set in.
The music warning alone will keep me away! The plot also sounds way too complicated, and dumb!
Bob, DEADPOOL 2 has your kind of humor! You could easily follow the plot.
