The Doctor’s companion, played by the feisty red-head Karen Gillian, will be leaving the series in a few episodes. The fetching Karen Gillian is my favorite companion. There is a sexual tension between Karen and The Doctor despite the fact she’s married to Rory. The entire Doctor Who series has improved in each of the last few seasons. Matt Smith, who plays the 11th Doctor, is both quirky and clever. If you haven’t been watching this BBC America program, you’re missing a lot of fun. Don’t worry about the backstory. I’ve warmed to Matt Smith(thought he was to young at the beginning). My favorite will always be Tom Baker(my first you know), but I love Pertwee and Tennant next. I have a feeling Paul McGann would have been among them had he more than the one film.
I don’t dislike any of the others, mind you, those are just my favorites.
Tom Baker was my favorite Doctor, too, Randy. But Matt Smith has brought his own style to the series.
So…do you think there will really be a woman Time Lord when Smith leaves or is that just hype to get viewers watching? It could work.
I’m all for a woman playing Doctor Who, Jeff. The rumors of the sex change did cause plenty of excitement in Whodom.
I think I have that jumping in problem. I am a bit of start at the beginning person. Impossible with this, I know.
Trust me, Patti, you’ll figure out what’s going on in DOCTOR WHO. It’s not Rocket Science (well, it sort of is actually). But you’ll catch on fast!
Patti, we agree. Sometimes it drives me nuts when Jackie puts on a movie she’s never seen before and watches the last 15-30 minutes. “Who’s that?” “I don’t know.” “What’s going on?” “I just let it wash over me.”
I can’t do that. In books I always try to start with the first in a series.
Same with me, Jeff. I like to begin at the beginning when possible. But with DOCTOR WHO, you just have to plunge right in if you’re a newbie.
Karen Gillian? Wasn’t she found naked in a hotel hallway last year crying cause she got locked out of her room? Where were all those people with their cell phone cameras when you need them!
I hadn’t heard that story, Stan. But I will miss Karen Gillian when she leaves DOCTOR WHO. She was a prominent part of my favorite episodes last season. She’s not just eye-candy.
