Based on a Mick Herron mystery novel of the same name, Down Cemetery Road brings two unlikely women together to investigate a series of unlikely events. Ruth Wilson plays Sarah Tucker, an art restorer, who becomes involved when a child from her neighborhood is injured. When Sarah goes to the hospital, she’s denied admission to the floor where the child is being treated. Sarah witnesses the child being removed from the hospital. When Sarah goes to the Police, she’s told the case has been “flagged” and she’s dismissed.
Frustrated and confused, Sarah–by chance–meets Emma Thompson’s Zoe Boehm, a spiky private investigator who soon has a personal reason to help Sarah and find the missing child.
I’ve only watched the first episode of Down Cemetery Road and can’t wait for the next seven episodes that drop on Wednesdays on Apple TV+. Both Ruth Wilson and Emma Thompson draw you into this nefarious plot. GRADE: Incomplete but trending towards an A
No Apple here.
We’re on the plane about to take off for New Orleans.
TSA was a nightmare.
Jeff, Diane and her sister, Carol, plan to fly to NYC on Friday. I’m hoping the Government Shutdown gets resolved next week for them…and you and Jackie!
George, our problem was, we shouldn’t have flown early in the morning. Later in the day – midday for example – isn’t as bad. Long lines of travelers, many with kids, and not nearly enough TSA agents made for a mess. I don’t know how Patrick can stand flying as much as he does, though I’m sure he’s in the pre-check line.
Jeff, for most of Patrick’s latest travel–Taiwan, Madrid, Morocco–there were no TSA delays. Hopefully, this stupid Government Shutdown will end next week.
I don’t have any streaming channels but will be getting a new TV sometime next year.
Maggie, I’m sure you would find plenty of entertainment on your new TV with Apple TV+. Many times, I watch Apple TV+ on my computer.
I’m slowly adding the channels into streaming, as the whim and access allow, while Meaning to get back to the low priority of resetting up the streaming version of the whole cable array, after they recalled all the old “real’ cable boxes (and DVRs, damn it). Inasmuch as our cable co. had already dropped the Showtime group of stations from our package, we aren’t missing too much, but there is a rare occasion that I might want to watch something on one of the more minor cable channels, and CNN, FWIW, has decided we need to subscribe to them directly to get any online feed, rather than what the broadcasters and HBO and TCM and such do, which is give one online access due to the cable subscription.
But we haven’t subbed to any further pay streams so far…the budget must make way for all the upkeep a century-old house needs ahead of feeding the video habit. Alice gets all the football she can handle as it goes already, for example.
Does sound interesting.
Meanwhile, off to catch the very dregs of Drumpf’s Great Gatsby party, while the millions will soon be growing hungrier. Ta. (By dregs, of course, I mean of humanity, the attendees.)
Todd, the poor will be starving and the wealthy will be doing wealthy things like building a $300 million ballroom.
Poor analogy! If anyone starves it’ll be Schumer’s fault!
Bob, the latest NBC Poll says voters are blaming Trump and the Republicans for the shutdown 55%.
I’m definitely a fan of the leads. The source novelist, in my slight experience, no slouch.
Emma Thompson on Colbert’s show, interview and plug: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkpQ_rTDqFg
Todd, you’ll be surprised by Emma Thompson’s performance in DOWN CEMETERY ROAD. A very different role…
Todd, Mick Herron’s other Apple TV+ series, SLOW HORSES, is also excellent!
