Based on a true story, Michelle Williams plays terminally ill Molly Kochan whose cancer comes back as Stage IV, inoperable. This situation unleashes Molly’s longing for a satisfying sexual experience with an another person after years of an empty marriage.
“The shadow of death has set her free–likewise, the cancer drugs that are supposed to reduce libido but in Molly have the opposite effect.” That’s what John Anderson wrote in his fine review of Dying for Sex in the Wall Street Journal. Sex and Death are unlikely bed-fellows, but this 8-episode series takes a serious look at final choices. I admit, I was uncomfortable while watching the first episode…but maybe that was the point. GRADE: INCOMPLETE but trending towards a B+
There are far worse things to die for.
Jerry, you’re right…again!
Jackie wants to watch it. Michelle Williams is always good. When she was with Heath Ledger, they bought a house around the corner from Jackie’s school.
Jeff, Michelle Williams is amazing! DYING FOR SEX, based on a true story, tells a compelling, if tragic, tale.
I really like Michelle Williams, but BDSM stories just don’t do it for me.
Jeff, I know what you mean. We have some friends who are battling cancer and they’re lives are upended!

The reviews use the word “inspiring.” We’re a long way from THE MIRACLE WORKER and MY LEFT FOOT, I guess.
Fred, I think “inspiring” is in the eye of the beholder. If I was diagnosed with Stage Four, inoperable cancer I’d have a different set of priorities.
I agree with you, George. If anything I’d probably be kicking myself over how much time I wasted being preoccupied with sex (or rather the lack ofit) in my youth.
The idea of having sex with someone with one foot in the grave strikes me as ghoulish!
