EYE IN THE SKY

No, this is not a movie based on the Philip K. Dick classic SF novel of the same name. This Eye in the Sky is a suspenseful movie of a drone mission. Terrorists are assembled in a house that’s under observation. Helen Mirren plays the Colonel in charge of the drone mission. Alan Rickman, a British General, plays the mediator with the politicians. The chain of command is lengthy and bureaucratic. The basic moral decision is: what is acceptable collateral damage? If you have an interest in the future of warfare, Eye in the Sky shows you some astonishing technology. And some moral dilemmas. You can read Patti Abbott’s more detailed review of Eye in the Sky here. GRADE: B+

We saw the preview in Florida several times and Jackie, as the huge Helen Mirren fan she is, was determined to see it. But it didn’t open down there before we left so it will have to be here or on cable.

Jeff, EYE IN THE SKY was in Boston when we visited Katie and only opened here last week. The theater was half full when I saw it. I was surprised.

Sad to know it’s his last film. Jeff, it’s still out. Don’t you have any theaters where you are? You want to see it on a big screen if possible.

We do. We can go to Union Square since our local theater only has Batman v. Superman on every screen, it seems.

Jeff, the box office for SUPERMAN VS. BATMAN fell 68% from the opening week. I haven’t read a positive review yet or heard anyone recommend it.

Rick, I’m sure you will come through the surgery fine. Try not to worry, at least as far as that is possible.

      Good luck.

this will have to be a netflix for me. So far since I restarted netflix I’ve seen the Martian, Big Short and Burnt. Burnt was a disappointment as I thought it was going to be a comedy. Would have loved to see Bradley Cooper as a chef with the obligatory man bun (I like many of them, just as I like mustaches and long hair on men)
