With such significant movies as “The Irishman”, “Little Women”, and “Parasite” still unseen, there’s no point in trying to make anything even approaching a definitive list. But for now QT’s wonderful “Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood” and Noah Baumbach’s “Marriage Story” are sitting firmly atop the pile. The year also gave us something increasingly rare, a science fiction movie and a sort of superhero movie, “Ad Astra” and “Fast Color” respectively, actually made for adults rather than fanboys.

I know it got great reviews, but I despise Sandler. Jackie has her list for Florida. I did like THE IRISHMAN and MARRIAGE STORY quite a bit.

UNCUT GEMS may top my list. Have yet to see LITTLE WOMEN though. I think you would like UG, Jeff. It is such a New York film.

Haven’t seen Uncut Gems. Western Stars or Little Women.
My favorites this year- Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, The Irishman, Parasite, , Joker, The Nightingale, Fiord vs Ferrari, Doctor Sleep, El Camino, and The Lighthouse in that order.
Western Stars only played here for one week at one theater that wasn’t very close. Little Women I have no interest in seeing.
The one thing that irked me about the Linda Ronstadt film was their
insistence that she was the first female rock star. Janis Joplin anyone?
Didn’t much care for Spideman. Too much emphasis on a silly teen romance.

Steve, I enjoy SPIDERMAN movies because I’m a teenager at heart! I suspect that claim that Linda Ronstadt was the first female rock star might be based on record sales.

Rick, more and more movies are being shown in theaters at the same time they’re available on Netflix or AMAZON Prime Video. That seems to be the new business model.

I haven’t seen any of these movies, George, but I’m interested in all but Spiderman.
I might try to get to Knives Out before it disappears off the big screen.

Is there going to be a “Worst Movies” list? Because last night we tried to watch MEN IN BLACK: INTERNATIONAL, and “tried” is the operative word. It was so terrible that Jackie told me to turn it off, which is the opposite to the usual way it happens. Think back to the first one, or even to the lesser sequels. No comparison. This one was just DOA from the start. No laughs, no smiles, no nothing, just lying there like a dead dog. Tessa Thompson was fine in CREED but just awful in this. Chris Hemsworth tried (too hard?) to breathe life into it, but it was no Thor. Bad, bad, bad.
