George, I’m currently hooked on reruns of David Suchet’s POIROT. I wish they’d show it in two consecutive hours rather than split it over two days; it’s rather annoying.
Prashant, I have all the David Suchet POIROTs on DVD. I like to read the original Agatha Christie story and then watch to see what they changed. Sometimes, the changes are major!
Deb, I must be getting Old School as I age. I was rooting for the Cowboys last night so the Saints could play in a dome stadium, but it didn’t happen. The weather in Philly will be cold this weekend!
Jeff, I suspect all Reality shows are frauds. But STORAGE WARS entertains me. Diane loves THE GOOD WIFE. Plenty of our friends watch PERSON OF INTEREST. Last year, ELEMENTARY made my list, but it’s suffering from the same disease HOUSE contracted: formula plots.
I always root against the Cowboys so even though I’m no Eagles fan I was pleased with the outcome. I think the Saints are a lot better than the Eagles but it doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll beat them.
Seeing Storage Wars makes me sad. My wife’s cousin died at a far too early age this past July from health problems. During her decline I had a period where I would go over to her house and sit with her and we would watch back to back to back episodes of Storage Wars and laugh about everything. Makes me miss her, she was a neat woman…and English teacher who loved to get into deep conversations about books and movies.
The Saints have NEVER won a playoff game on the road, so I’m not allowing myself to get too excited about the upcoming game. But the Saints only have themselves to blame–if they had won the two games they lost in the last minute, they’d have a first round bye and at least one playoff game in the Super Dome.
Deb, I still think the Saints can beat the Eagles. The Cowboys almost beat them last night with the NFL’s worst defense. You have to hope for warmer weather in Philly this weekend!
Todd, I watched BORGEN and HOUSE OF CARDS on DVD and Blu-ray so I con’t consider them in the FAVORITE TV category. But, you’re right: they are vastly better than STORAGE WARS!
I watch so little television it’s hardly fair I comment, but favorite watching during the year was PBS Newshour, Amazing Race, Grim (Barbara), Sing-Off (so, so superior to Idol, Talent, Voice and such silly shows). But your post head said “series” and I guess there was only one, that Barbara watches. She liked Blacklist a lot but has fallen behind so I don’t know if it could be called a favorite.
As for football, Seattle gets the week off. I hope the Eagles beat the Saints as I fear the Saints more so things might be easier for Seattle if they are not around. My picks this coming weekend: Colts, Bengals, Niners, Saints (If the weather in Philly is bad, with very cold, rain or worse, then Eagles).

I would certainly include MAD MEN on mine. Will do it soon. Looking for the pics exhausts me.
Patti, I’ll be sad when MAD MEN ends its run in 2014. There’s nothing that can replace it.
What–no Duck Dynasty or Doomsday Preppers? You’re losing your pop culture cred, George!

Breaking Bad was easily the best show on tv this year.
Steve, you’re right. BREAKING BAD had an amazing run. Diane watches THE GOOD WIFE and loves it. I’m a big fan of HOUSE OF CARDS.
Storage Wars was outed as a fraud, as far as I recall. We like Major Crimes but wouldn’t put it on our best list.
The Good Wife
The Newsroom
Treme
Person of Interest

Carl, I was moved by your story of your wife’s cousin.

/Sorry for the thread hi-Jack, George.

STORAGE WARS better than BORGEN, THE GOOD WIFE and your HOUSE OF CARDS? Heresy, sir.
RS clearly thinks it knows what sells MAD MEN. Different sorts of cleavage seem to me to be its strength.

Rick, I’ll have my NFL Playoff picks up on this blog over the weekend.
Oh, and I’d really prefer Green Bay beat the Niners, because I don’t want the Seahawks to wind up playing the Niners again, thank you very much.
Rick, I’m leaning toward picking the Niners to win in frigid Green Bay.
