I think this movie should be titled Finding Dory’s Family since that’s what the plot centers around. Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) is a cute blue fish with short-term memory problems. Dory realizes she has a mother and a father and wants to find them. Dory’s two friends, Marlin (Albert Brooks) and Nemo (Hayden Rolence), accompany Dory on her search. But, of course, Dory gets separated from Marlin and Nemo. She meets a grumpy octopus, Hank (Ed O’Neill), who steals every scene he’s in. For fans of Finding Nemo, Finding Dory will be a solid sequel. It made $136 million in its opening weekend. Obviously audiences aren’t having any trouble finding Dory. GRADE: A-
Can’t wait to see this – my nieces will be visiting soon – hopefully 11 won’t make them too mature for it as I’m dying to go 🙂
Sergio, FINDING DORY will please all generations. It’s a classic already! You’re going to love Hank the Octopus!
The only surprise is that it too this many years to make the sequel, when the first one was such a big hit.
Jeff, apparently Andrew Stanton–the writer and director–didn’t want to do sequel. But Pixar insisted and FINDING DORY is the result. Our Regal theater showing was sold out…at a 11 A.M.!
Yes, what Jeff said. Kevin loved this sort of film at 3. Now he scoffs at it. Girls probably would still like it. And their parents.
Patti, the incredible Pixar graphics and 3D effects would win Kevin over. The story is timeless and heart-felt. And people applauded at the end of FINDING DORY. That’s doesn’t happen much anymore.
As a Pixar stockholder, I’m ecstatic about the sales. I loved the first one, and will undoubtedly see this one soon. I found it interesting that Entertainment Weekly only gave it a B review. In an article I read somewhere, Ellen Degeneres credited this for helping restart her career.
Maggie, FINDING DORY will take in over a billion dollars. While FINDING DORY isn’t a good as FINDING NEMO, it’s a brilliant animated film.
Based on trailers, it seems to me it mocks those poor souls with Alzheimer’s and pre-Alzheimer’s. Let’s all laugh at people with memory problems. Really poor taste. Wouldn’t see it. Maybe they’ll make another film soon that shows how funny it is to have cancer. That too will be a laugh riot.
Rick, Dory has short-term memory problems. But she overcomes her problems. FINDING DORY delivers and inspiring message.
Sorry, but this one just really hits me wrong.
Rick, I’m a big fan of Pixar animated movies. FINDING DORY is playing to mass audiences.
George, I don’t think I’ll be watching this in the theatres, especially now that it is raining heavily and going to the cinema hall through traffic jams and water-logged roads is the last thing on my mind. The film is doing quite well. It got released just as the new school academic year began.
Prashant: The film may stay in theaters a long time if the attendance is high. That’s what I look for, as I hate to go to crowded theaters.
Prashant, the Blu-ray version of FINDING DORY should be released soon. You’ll enjoy it!
George, I’m not a real fan of these movies – but just wanted to tell you:
Here in Hungary you already can buy a lot of little figures and toys based on the film …
When I saw them, I was a bit surprised – then told my sister who visited us right now – her name is Doris …
So we joked about this while drinking nice Hungarian dry white wine …
Wolf, marketing merchandise related to Disney movies is a billion dollar business. Disney made almost as much money on FROZEN stuff–toys, pajamas, lunch boxes, etc.–than they made on the movie!
Sorry, George!
Seems I’m really getting old …
Had to rest my computer after some trouble and changed my nick to wolfi …
PS:
Which variation would you prefer?
Wolf, either sounds good to me.
Here’s a joke that’s making it rounds – only to be debunked by snopes:
THE ‘GAYING’ OF AMERICA.
‘FINDING DORY’ HAS TRANSGENDER STINGRAY
Ellen DeGenderes says creature is ‘becoming sting-Rhonda’
Disney/Pixar’s upcoming film Finding Dory features a transgender stingray who transitions to become “Sting-Rhonda,” the film’s star Ellen DeGeneres revealed in an interview.

Wolf, there are plenty of conspiracy theories about FINDING DORY because of “secret” messages.
