This holiday collection from 2001 features Bill Crider’s “The Empty Manger” (a Sheriff Dan Rhodes mystery), Terrance Faherty’s “The Headless Magi” (with metaphysical sleuth Owen Keanne), Aileen Schumacher’s “Christmas Cache” (starring Tory Trafers, New Mexico engineer and part-time detective), and Wendi Lee’s “Stocking Stuffer” (with Angela Matelli, a Boston private investigator). I enjoyed reading all these stories and you will, too. Copies are available online at a pittance.
Crider’s name is the only one I recognise (sorry about that) but I do like themes collections – thanks George.
Sergio, I had this collection for over a decade. I bought it when it was first published and then it somehow found its way into a box. I’m trying to get all my books on shelves so when I discovered this box, I unearthed MURDER, MAYHEM & MISTLETOE.
George, I’ll look this up. Many thanks for the post.
Prashant, MURDER, MAYHEM & MISTLETOE is a fun read. You’ll enjoy it.
Some pretty good stories in there (not just mine).
Bill, I liked your story the best, but you’re right: the other stories are fun, too.
Of course I got (and read) this one for the Crider story, but like you I enjoyed all of them. I’ve read quite a few of Faherty’s stories and one of Wendi Lee’s novels.
Jeff, I have another Christmas collection for FFB next week.
In late October I started reading that fat Christmas collection you posted about a year ago, thinking I’d be posting it today, but I’ve read only about 50 pages. Blame that influx of library books, and finishing two other short story collections, I guess. At least I have that for my holiday season reading.
That book was THE BIG BOOK OF CHRISTMAS MYSTERY STORIES, edited by Otto Pensler.
Rick, I really enjoyed THE BIG BOOK OF CHRISTMAS MYSTERY STORIES! Plenty of great stories!
Rick, the books avalanche here on a regular basis. I’m way behind on my pleasure reading. It’s just been work, work, work the past few weeks. But next week I’ll be giving FINAL EXAMS and figuring FINAL GRADES so I can finally wrap up this semester.
