You can’t possibly go wrong with Roy Orbison in my opinion. We were fortunate enough to see him perform live in July of 1988, less than five months before his death, and he sounded as great as ever. His death (at 52!) was a real loss.

I love this album–although, admittedly, few of the songs are on par with classics like Only the Lonely and (my favorite) Blue Angel, it’s still a lovely collection; and I think the haunting She’s A Mystery to Me does rank right up there in the Orbison canon. I’m glad Roy had this career resurgence (including a great Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame induction) before his untimely death.

Deb, Roy Orbison was great right up to his untimely death. He never stopped touring, he never stopped recording. The PRETTY WOMAN movie gave his career a boost.

Some of my favorite Orbison work is on The Traveling Wilburys album. I’m not a big fan of over the top albums like this with demos and fragments.

Rick, I agree Orbison did some great work with THE TRAVELING WILBURYS. The demo versions on this CD shows some of the creative process that went into the production. They’re interesting from that perspective.

What, no love for The Fastest Guitar in the West? BTW, George, you didn’t have to retype all those song titles. They’re in the photo you ran.
