Alan Ritchson Teases REACHER Season 4 Book
Gone Tomorrow is the 13th book in Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series. Gone Tomorrow was published in 2009 and is the basis of AMAZON PRIME Video’s Reacher, Season 4–I’ll be posting a review of that on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
Gone Tomorrow is a homage to New York City. Over 90% of the action of the novel happens there. If you live in NYC, visit NYC, or have read enough books about NYC, you’ll recognize all the Lee Child’s references to sites in the city, the streets, the subway system, and the people.
The plot gets launched on a subway car a 2 A.M. Reacher notices a suspicious-looking passenger who matches many of the characteristics of a potential suicide bomber. When he approaches the passenger, an unlikely event triggers a situation that leads Reacher into a series of chases and escapes.
The key to the incident is the mission in Asia years before. Reacher contacts a senatorial candidate who was in Delta Force when key happenings occurred. The FBI and other Federal agencies chase Reacher, trying to discover what he knows about the case.
Meanwhile, Evil Elements are tracking down Reacher because they believe he has information vital to their mission. All of these various forces come together in a Battle Royale at the conclusion of Gone Tomorrow. Some readers might quibble about the slow beginning, but no one will complain about the deadly ending. Are you a Lee Child fan? GRADE: B+

That’s always a possibility! Having The Smirking Dwarf play Reacher in the movies was also a huge turn off for me! I guess you know his brother has been writing the books for some years now! I don’t know how many!
Bob, I stopped reading Reacher books when Lee Child stopped writing them. Child and his brother work together on the Reacher series now–Lee does the outland and his brother writes the text.

I remember that subway opening well. We’re waiting until more than the first three episodes are available to start watching the new series. And we also have the Neagley series to look forward to.
Jeff, NEAGLEY shows up Wednesday, September 16, 2026. All eight episodes of the first season will be released at once on AMAZON Prime Video right after the Reacher Season 4 finale.
I’m up to date on many of the current crime writers (Atkins, Burke, Collins, Connelly, Crais, Lansdale, Lehane, Pelecanos) but I’ve never picked up a Child or–among the other bestsellers–Coben. Maybe one of these days.
Fred, I suggest you start any Lee Child reading with his first Reacher book, THE KILLING FLOOR. Then, if you feel like it, you can watch REACHER, SEASON ONE on AMAZON PRIME Video. It’s based on THE KILLING FLOOR. You will love the Shower Scene!
