GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 [3-D]

Baby Groot steals every scene he’s in. Guardians of the Galaxy takes a step back to fill in the story of Chris Pratt’s character, Peter Quill (aka, “Star Lord”). The origin story is impressive, but it weighs down the froth we expect in a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. There’s also some romance, some resolution of a sisterly feud, and a lot of emotional “family” moments. What isn’t here is a lot of the fun of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Elaborate action scenes save Guardians of the Galaxy 2. But James Gunn, the Director and Scriptwriter, jams even more characters onto an already crowded movie screen. The credits announce another Guardians of the Galaxy movie planned for 2020. Let’s hope there’s more fun and less drama in that one. GRADE: B

Jackie doesn’t want to hear any negatives. We’ll see it in a few weeks, probably. Love Baby Groot!

I watched again the first movie (thanks to Sergio and others for the idea), which makes the 3rd time I’d seen it. I think the second time I watched it, I must have watched it on tv and missed the first part, and began with Star Lord finding the orb. (didn’t remember the mother’s death scene and brief illusion to his father’s origins)

I agree with Jeff, this is a big screen movie. I”ll catch in this next week, wonder if it’s worth seeing it in 3-D (not all movies are)

Maggie, I thought the 3-D effects in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 were impressive. The movie looks good on the Big Screen!

Rick, the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY were in prison for a time before they broke out. That might have been around the time of the Election.

I saw it Saturday and agree with your points, George. I liked the first one better but had fun with this one, too.

Even with its flaws, it’s probably still better than most of the other stuff out there.

We’ll be seeing it next Tuesday.
