We’re getting the rain, fortunately. Two days ago it was a near-record 60 degrees! Yesterday it was 40 but the frigid wind made it feel a lot colder.
Deb
Congratulations! You and Diane don’t look old enough to have been married almost 40 years. Hope you have a wonderful celebration whenever the weather clears.
Sometimes it obviously pays to wait “until the right one comes along” – I have seen so many couples splitting over the years that a pair like you seems to be the exception that proves the rule …
And may you stay forever young!
PS:
Hope you don’t mind that I’ve tried to quote from several songs here – you can sing along with me …
Wolf, there’s always the classic Billy Joel song, “Keepin’ the Faith,” with the lines:
I thought I was the Duke of Earl
When I made it with a red-haired girl
In the Chevrolet
But, you’re right: redheads are unrepresented in Rock&Roll!

Congratulations, George! Speaking of vast book collections, I think Melissa might prefer to burn mine for heat but I’m not letting her get close.
So now, George, you have at least two postive points to balance the death of your mother.
Andyou never know what will happen, but from experience I can tell you that retirement is nice – having so much more time on your hand for things you like to do – like writing here!
When friends asked me about retirement I often answered: Now I only do two types of things – the ones I love to do and the ones I absolutely have to do …
Happy anniversary, Dr. & Mrs. Kelley!!
Lauren, thank you! Hope 2016 was a great year for you and Patrick!
Thank you, Dr. Kelley, and the same to you!
Lauren, you might pass this information on to your brother: my son, Patrick, was just hired by GOOGLE!
I will pass on that good news to my brother, and congratulations to your son, Patrick!
Lauren, I’ll have more stories of GOOGLE-land when we go visit my son later this Spring. Hope you and Patrick have a wonderful 2017!
That sounds like a really cool vacation, and I am looking forward to hearing stories! Happy New Year, Dr. Kelley!
Lauren, I hope 2017 is a great year for you, too!
You crazy kids……
Dan, marrying Diane was the best decision I ever made!
Have a great celebration!
Patti, it’s snowing now and the wind chills will be around zero later today. I think we might delay the celebration until the weather is more benign.
Congratulations. Happy 38th!
Jeff, it seems like we were just celebrating our 37th Anniversary. The Year just flew by!
Happy anniversary!
Bill, many thanks for you good wishes! It’s snowing here so that might put our Anniversary celebration plans on hold until conditions improve.

Deb, Diane and I were both 29-years-old when we got married. That was considered “late” by our friends and families at that time.
Better late than never!
Congratulations to you, Dianne and George!

Wolf, I think you forgot “This Magic Moment” and “When I Man Loves a Woman”!
Congratulations!! May you have another 38 years of wedded bliss
Maggie, thanks!
Congratulations to a genuinely happy couple!
May you have many more years of happiness together.
Beth, I suspect we’re going to keep doing what we’ve been doing: having fun!
Congratulations! It’s great that you’ve weathered the storm together for all those years. May you have many more.
Rick, we’ve weathered a lot of snow storms over those 38 years. More are in the forecast!
We won’t get out of the teens starting Sunday, for a week. That’s the longest streak since we’ve lived here.
Rick, we have colder weather moving in next week. Winter is definitely here!
So Charlie Brown didn’t end up with the cute red-headed girl after all. Best wishes to you and Diane! May you enjoy many more years together.
Jerry, I lured the cute red-haired girl away from Charlie Brown with my vast book collection!
So maybe Springsteen was thinking about you two when he wrote about “… ’til you had your tires rotated by a red headed woman …”?
It’s one of our favourite songs – even though my wife is a blonde … 🙂

And you’ve got retirement to look forward to….
Rick, thanks for your kind words! Tomorrow is my Last Official Day of Work! Then, let the bingeing begin!
So now, George, you have at least two postive points to balance the death of your mother.
Andyou never know what will happen, but from experience I can tell you that retirement is nice – having so much more time on your hand for things you like to do – like writing here!

Enjoy!
Wolf, my Retirement will probably start with snowblowing. Snow is on the way!
Also congratulations on the end of your work career. Tomorrow, you’re a free man. You’ll wonder how you ever had time for work.
Rick is so right about wondering how you did it all before!!!
I like Wolf’s advice do only things you love and have to do!
Amen to that. I think Bill was the first one I remember saying that, but Jackie certainly agrees. More time for books!
Maggie, just chilling out for a few days after all the chaos of December sounds good to me!
Rick, I’m looking forward to the benefits of Retirement–mostly more reading time–but I’ll miss certain aspects of my 40-years of teaching.
Happy 38th! Although it seems like a long time, I have underwear that’s older!
Bob, I always knew you were a frugal person! The only things I have that are older than 38 years are books!
George, congratulations and Happy Anniversary to you both!
Prahant, thank you! The weather here is cold and snowy so our Anniversary celebration will be delayed for a week or so.
Wishing the two of you many many more. Congratulations!!
Steve, many thanks! I’m taking my Vitamin-C and Vitamin-D and Omega-3 so I’m hoping that leads to many more Anniversaries!
