Lauren, I’ll have more stories of GOOGLE-land when we go visit my son later this Spring. Hope you and Patrick have a wonderful 2017!

That sounds like a really cool vacation, and I am looking forward to hearing stories! Happy New Year, Dr. Kelley!

Patti, it’s snowing now and the wind chills will be around zero later today. I think we might delay the celebration until the weather is more benign.

Bill, many thanks for you good wishes! It’s snowing here so that might put our Anniversary celebration plans on hold until conditions improve.

We’re getting the rain, fortunately. Two days ago it was a near-record 60 degrees! Yesterday it was 40 but the frigid wind made it feel a lot colder.

Congratulations! You and Diane don’t look old enough to have been married almost 40 years. Hope you have a wonderful celebration whenever the weather clears.

        Better late than never!

Congratulations to you, Dianne and George!

Sometimes it obviously pays to wait “until the right one comes along” – I have seen so many couples splitting over the years that a pair like you seems to be the exception that proves the rule …

And may you stay forever young!

        PS:
Hope you don’t mind that I’ve tried to quote from several songs here – you can sing along with me …

So Charlie Brown didn’t end up with the cute red-headed girl after all. Best wishes to you and Diane! May you enjoy many more years together.

So maybe Springsteen was thinking about you two when he wrote about “… ’til you had your tires rotated by a red headed woman …”?

It’s one of our favourite songs – even though my wife is a blonde … 🙂

Wolf, there’s always the classic Billy Joel song, “Keepin’ the Faith,” with the lines:
I thought I was the Duke of Earl
When I made it with a red-haired girl
        In the Chevrolet

But, you’re right: redheads are unrepresented in Rock&Roll!

Congratulations, George! Speaking of vast book collections, I think Melissa might prefer to burn mine for heat but I’m not letting her get close.

And you’ve got retirement to look forward to….

So now, George, you have at least two postive points to balance the death of your mother.

Andyou never know what will happen, but from experience I can tell you that retirement is nice – having so much more time on your hand for things you like to do – like writing here!

When friends asked me about retirement I often answered: Now I only do two types of things – the ones I love to do and the ones I absolutely have to do …

        Enjoy!

Rick is so right about wondering how you did it all before!!!

I like Wolf’s advice do only things you love and have to do!

Amen to that. I think Bill was the first one I remember saying that, but Jackie certainly agrees. More time for books!

Rick, I’m looking forward to the benefits of Retirement–mostly more reading time–but I’ll miss certain aspects of my 40-years of teaching.
