A lot of folks upset, divided, and violently opposed to different viewpoints, philosophies and Reality as others see it, but I sweat it not. Representative Government had a good run in this country, and I, for one, shall look back on it with pride!

Jerry, I treating Diane to one of her favorites: a Ted’s Charcoal Hots foot-long hot dog with delicious French Fries. I’ll go with one of Ted’s hamburgers with onion rings. Diane bought fresh local corn and we’ll top this off with watermelon.

    Same to you, George.

Apparently, many of your fellow Americans have forgotten that we fought a revolution to get rid of the King, not to crown a new one.

    Welcome to the dictatorship.

Jeff, all the latest polls indicate people HATE the Big Beautiful Bill. They’ll hate it even more when the transfer of wealth from them to the billionaires begins… Hope you and Jackie enjoy a wonderful Fourth of July. Our weather is perfect: 70s, low humidity, sunny. Tomorrow, we’re back in the 80s…and I’ll stay in the A/C.

Jackie changed our menu several times – pizza, Vietnamese, steak … – before returning to the traditional hot dogs, beans, potato salad and coleslaw, with strawberry shortcake for dessert. At least the 90s of the last two days are gone for a while.

Weather and other factors allowing (pouring rain is forecast all day), we’ll gather with the kids and grandkids for the same hot dogs/potato salad/etc menu that Jeff mentioned. I keep hoping that Trump and his fellow scammers and scoundrels will eventually suffer the same fate as Huckleberry Finn’s Duke and Dauphin. At any rate, Happy 4th to everyone.

Fred, hope you and your family have a fun and dry Fourth of July! If the economics I learned in College still is valid, our country is faced with multiple disasters: inflation, unemployment, and recession soon. The Big Beautiful Bill will close many rural hospitals and take away Medicaid from millions of needy Americans. Not a pretty picture…

I hpe that everybody here enjoys America’s Independence Day and also your meals – they sound really good btw.
Heree in Europe we’re also wondering about the future – many people say they don’t want to visit the USA for holidays anymore …
Things like raising the entrance fee for National Parks – of course only for foreigners – and intensifying TSA checks?
    Just read a funny story:
Several people were stopped because the TSA found water on them – just sweat, but who knows?
I really coun myself very lucky to have had several visits around 15 Years ag, they were wonderful – and cheap because the § was at .7 € s we did a lot of shopping.
Another holiday I may have mentioned already:
After my first wife’s death I went GAFIA and one evening I sat outside my favourite bar – but nne of my friends appeared, the terrace was totally empty.
And then I heard them: They were watching the soccer world championship in Germany …
I’m not inerested in soccer so I left, went to the local travel agency and found a really good last minute offer for 10 days in an apartment in Ft Myers Beach. I spent lovely days in Flrida and then I realised it was the end of June 2006 and I would still be there on the Fourth – so I watche the fireworks – fond memories!
