    Boom! Nice fireworks.

I’m not happy about going to Midtown this afternoon with all the terror warnings but I’m reasonably comfortable things with work out.

    Have fun everybody!

I still remember being in Florida in 2006 – as a widower I just wanted to get away from Germany in June because everybody went crazy over the soccer world competition …
So I looked for cheap flights – and found one to Ft Myers …

And on July fourth I went to the beach and watched the fireworks on the beach of Ft Myers Beach – that was a nice surprise!

I remember spending July 4th in London in 1972. Not surprisingly, it was not exactly a big deal holiday over there.

in 1987 we visited Ellen & Al Nehr in Shaker Heights and saw the local fireworks nearby, which was more fun than the massive Macy’s event.

We’ve been to Yankee Stadium for games on July 4 seven times (Yankees were 5-2 in those games). Today we’re going to the theater for a matinee.

Jeff, sometimes local fireworks can be very entertaining. We used to take Patrick and Katie to a Fourth of July fireworks display when they were little.

Happy 4th of July: In honor of the multi-culturalism that is part of the American way, this naturalized American citizen will be making Nigerian goat pepper soup and jollof rice for dinner. Fireworks on the palette!

Deb, that sounds yummy! We’re going with the traditional hamburgers, hot dogs, and pasta salad. And, of course, ice cream!

Barbecued chicken, baked potatoes and cornbread, possibly with strawberry shortcake for dessert.

Ice cream sounds nice – we also have 35 Celsius (95 Fahrenheit) (as hot as it was in Florida at that time – usually we went there in winter) in Hungary right now so we’ll have Black Forest Icecream that I brought over from Germany.

George, is it true that you Americans eat half a gallon of icecream in one afternoon?

It’s 97 out. I’m typing this between trips out to the BBQ on which chicken is cooking. That will go with corn on the cob, fruit salad and cheesecake dessert. Happy Fourth, George.

Rick, you’re really roasting up there in the Great Northwest! We have a sunny 77-degree day. Low humidity and a slight breeze. Perfect 4th of July weather around here! BBQ and corn and fruit salad and cheesecake sounds like a wonderful menu!

We had a little (very little) light rain this afternoon and very cool temperatures – the high was only 74. When we got back to Brooklyn after the show the sun had come out and was perfect weather for the Macy’s fireworks show, which drew some three MILLION spectators.

We stayed home and watched 1776 tonight.

Jeff, we watch the MACY fireworks on NBC. Looked like a beautiful night in NYC with millions of people enjoying themselves.
