Believe it or not, I’ve made it to 64 (of course, I feel like I’m 12). Thanks to all my doctors my health is good. Diane keeps me on the path to righteous behavior (though I tend to stray from time to time). I have a wonderful wife, great kids, good friends, close family, and a job I enjoy. And a few thousand books I need to read Real Soon. Life is Good.
A very happy birthday to you, George! May the good tidings continue to flow your way.
Thanks, Prashant! I’ve been lucky.
George, those of us who knew you in your hard-drinking, hard-wenching, two-fisted devil-may-care youth were surprised when you made it to 40 without landing in jail or the grave. 64 is just impossible to believe–are you sure you’re not lying about your age?
Deb, I hope you appreciate the George Clooney photo. Getting to 64 just happened while I wasn’t looking. And, I try to stay out of bar fights now!
Will they still need you? Will they still feed you? When you’re sixty-four?
My best guess is yes. Congratulations!
Jerry, the trick is not acting like you’re 64. I usually act like I’m 12.
Happy 64th Birthday, George! Welcome to the club. You don’t look it.
Hope you get many books and lots of pizza this year.
Thanks for the good wishes, Jeff. No surgeries (so far) this year. Big difference! The books keep arriving via UPS and the pizza still tastes great!
Happy Birthday, old man (says the even older one)! and many happy returns. I hope you have family and friends to celebrate with, and that there’s something special in your day.
Thanks, Rick. Our usual Birthday celebration is going to movie and enjoying a swanky dinner afterwards.
Happy birthday, George! Have a great day! How I’d love to be 64 again.
Bill, age is just a number. And, if you believe that, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I’d like to sell you!
Hey, Happy Birthday George!!! Hope you have as good a day today as your name-sharing celeb above would be were it his special day today. 🙂
Carl, thanks for the kind words! Here in Western New York the skies are bright, the sun is shining, and the temps are in the 70s. I couldn’t ask for a nicer Birthday!
Based on energy alone you’ve always seemed at least a decade younger than me. A mere three years and change–say it ain’t so! Nevertheless, have a great day! Now isn’t it about time you took up golf ?
Art, thanks for your comment on my energy. I was losing my energy with my bad knees. The new titanium knees (and the end of the pain) have given me an energy boost. I leave golfing to my brother. My allergies make outside activities difficult unless the temps are under 32.
Happy Birthday, George! And thank you for the eye-candy picture of that other George, you know, the one who is also known as Deb’s secret boyfriend!
Secret boyfriend, Deb? Is that why George Clooney is always smiling…
“a swanky dinner”. Sounds like pizza to me!
No, Rick, swanky is a restaurant like Schimschack’s (a German-American restaurant) that sits atop the Lewiston Escarpment. On a clear day, like today, you can see Toronto across Like Ontario! Very scenic! And, the food is excellent! They even have ostrich on the menu!
A pup, a stripling, a callow youth. I assume you’ll have a party at Chucky Cheese. Have a good one.
Bob, I used up my allotment of fun at Chuck E. Cheese when Patrick and Katie celebrated their Birthday parties there. Plus, the pizza is crappy.
George–my relationship with George Clooney is so secret that even he doesn’t know about it!
Deb, you have great taste in secret friendships!
Happy to hear that. Sounds like the day we had here yesterday. Bit warmer today, but not bad.
If you’re going to Lewiston, George, will there be custard for dessert? Jackie wants to know.
Jeff, delicious frozen custard always caps a great meal! Wish you and Jackie were here to share it with us!
Happy belated, George! Even if the Isle of Wight is too dear, I hope you got a good look at Toronto last night. (And you confuse one Dan above with Deb on the first go-round…not so bad if Dan also might dig the Clooney photo, but I’ll take a, say, fantasy affair with his colleague Julianna Margulies instead among an array of others, and I’ll let Dan choose for himself.) Don’t forget all the music yet to be heard and heard again…and all the rest of what makes life better than grading papers…
Todd, I’m far from the Land of Grading Papers this summer. After spending the past two Summers in Rehab and Physical Therapy from my knee replacement surgeries, I decided to take the Summer off and just read (and listen to CDs and go to movies). Downtime is Good!
Hope you had a great day, George! Loved your most recent photo!
Thanks, Beth! It’s amazing what a couple knee replacements can do to change your appearance.
Happy (belated) birthday Dr. Kelley!!

Thanks, Lauren. I’m hoping for many more!
I just wanted to make sure that you saw that the message was also from my brother. Also, did you check out the video in the link?
Thank Patrick for me, Lauren. The link wouldn’t open. I suspect the problem is WINDOWS 8.
I will send him your message. If you would like to see the video we sent you, enter “Dogs Singing Happy Birthday dogbook” into YouTube and click on the first non-sponsored result.
