I’ve never figured out what, exactly, “Labor Day” is supposed to be about. I get all the other holidays, what they mean and what we do. Christmas is church, presents, carols. July 4th is put out the flag, grill something and enjoy a fireworks show. And so forth. Labor Day? We celebrate the hard work we’ve done all year, I guess. We do this by… what? Working? Loafing? Hoping the pregnant wife goes into… well you get the idea.
Also, for other holidays, we have movies. We watch Independence Day, or It’s A Wonderful Life or The Sands of Iwo JIma or The Thanksgiving Promise. What movies are there for Labor Day? Maybe something by Fritz Lang.
