Happy Thanksgiving to all! John brined the turkey last night and is now preparing to put it in the big green egg. I will be making mashed potatoes, dressing, creamed spinach, and sweet potatoes later. We have pecan and pumpkin pies for dessert. I foresee a food coma in my future!

Rick, little flakes of snow are in the forecast for today, but other than the 33 degree temperature, the weather is mild for this time of year. I can remember many Thanksgivings when I had to fire up Big Red (or Big Orange) to snowblow the driveway for our guests so they could park and enter our home. Happy Thanksgiving!

That brings back happy memories of the frozen Niagara Falls for us …
Hope you also enjoy winter coming to you up north!
I would also like to “drive” that big snowblower once, but usually we only have a few inches of snow – unlike the Black Forest.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and your families!

Here in Europe we had All Saints as a big holiday, Thanksgiving isn’t really celebrated – but Black Friday is the rage now everywhere, in Hungary like in Germany etc!
I’m being bombarded with emails – buy, buy, buy …

    Ps and a bit OT:
When my wife went with me to the USA the first time in mid-November (9 years ago, a week in Miami Beach, really fantastic) and we visited the Publix she couldn’t believe her eyes:
    All those massive turkeys …
And I had to explain to her that this was for the big holiday where the families come together – and after that you have leftover turkey on sandwiches, salads etc for many days … 🙂
So don’t overeat and go easy on the extras, please!

Wolf, sadly THANKSGIVING has become a retail “event” as stores open on what was for decades a “family” day. Now, people are going to Wal-mart, Target, etc. to shop for “bargains.”
