Wishing you and your sweetie a wonderful day. Suggesting that perhaps it will be wisest for you two to get a room. Wondering what Valentine treats you will be eating today.

Jerry, the restaurant I’m taking Diane to tonight features a “Valentine’s Day Menu” that they don’t reveal until we’re seated at our table. But, based on past Valentine’s Day dinners there, I’ll probably have Prime Rib and Diane will go with the Chicken dish. Plus, desserts, of course!

Happy Valentine’s Day to all! Today marks John’s and my 39th anniversary as a couple, and this past Wednesday was our 37th wedding anniversary. But, because he drove Victoria to Houston this weekend (she was presenting a paper at Rice University), we’re waiting until later next week (after Mardi Gras) to celebrate with a trip to Lake Charles. However, he did text me this morning to look under the mouse pad of his computer—and there was a Valentine’s card for me! Who says romance is dead?

Jeff, hope you and Jackie enjoy Valentine’s Day! I just got my repaired snow blower back and quickly cleared the dusting of snow that fell overnight from our driveway and sidewalks. My neighbors are hoppy Big Orange is back and raring to go, too!

        Good news about Big Orange.

We got our car back from Subaru yesterday too. $5,000 to fix the air conditioning issues, but thanks to the extended warranty it cost me only the $100 deductible. And they washed and vacuumed the car, as well as giving us a loaner car (a new Crosstrek) to use while they waited for a part.

Jeff, Diane wants to test-drive a Subaru and a Toyota as soon as the weather improves. We’ll give Diane’s Altima–with 24,000 miles–to Katie.

Deb, hope you like your romantic Valentine’s Day card as much as Diane liked mine! Congratulations on your 39th Anniversary as a loving couple!

    Pink! How Valentine-y.

To me, Valentine’s Day is one of those artificial Hallmark Holidays, meant mostly for the young or newly involved.
    But then, I suppose I sound Scrooge-like.

Happy Valentine’s Day to those who celebrate it. Read Dave Barry’s funny take on it in his Substack from yesterday.

Jeff, I’ll accept any opportunity to take Diane to her favorite local restaurant for dinner! Yes, Valentine’s Day is an invented holiday, but NPR says billions of dollars will be spent on Valentine’s Day cards, presents, and dinners!

Jeff, Diane and I have eaten at the CHEESECAKE FACTORY numerous times. But the size of their portions have always filled us so we’ve never had room for dessert there.

Right. We have a local Italian deli nearby that has small chocolate cream pies – just enough for 4 small or 2 large portions. We’ll probably pick one up today.

Have a great day. We’re going to a favorite Himalayan restaurant, then to a SDSU women’s basketball game and later to a favorite ice cream shop. Having fresh squeezed tangerine juice with breakfast. Larry has a tree that has tons of fruit. We’ve given over 100 to one of my neighbors and bags to our favorite grocery store checkers and bankers. We might take Blondie (the golden lab shoenapper) to the park.

Beth, I don’t need a Special Day like Valentine’s…but I know dinner at The Hideaway Grille–Diane’s favorite local restaurant–will make her really happy today!

I’m in the I-hate-artificial-holidays camp, but I do the obligatory things to keep the peace! Since this was a casino Saturday, we went there and left enough behind to give some poor, hungry Puyallup child a college education! Lunch was at the usual place in the casino, the Tatoosh Grille! My fish and chips was average! Tasted like old fries they nuked! They do better on Chinese food! At least there is candy at home!
