INDIANAPOLIS COLTS VS. BUFFALO BILLS

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS VS. BUFFALO BILLS
Buffalo Bills Head Coach Rex Ryan pronounced, “We have won the Off-Season.” No one around here knows what that means. Many Bills fans want Rex Ryan drug-tested. The prospects for the Real Season do not look good. Running Back Karlos Williams is suspended for four games because of a failed drug test. Rookie Running Back Jonathan Williams was arrested for drunk driving and will probably face NFL disciplinary charges. That forced the Bills to sign frequently injured Reggie Bush. Not good. What are the prospects for your favorite NFL team?

Who cares? It’s pre-season! Most of the players this weekend will be selling used cars or heroin in a month!

As for the real season, it’s up to the gods.

George, is the drug situation really that bad?

I didn’t watch any US tv series over the last years, thought it was just too much over the top …

Wolf, police just busted a crystal meth lab located in a culvert under a local Wal-Mart parking lot. The United States has a huge drug problem, but no political candidate is talking about it.

Rick, Rex Ryan arrived in Buffalo last year making a lot of promises, none of which happened. I’m guessing that if the Buffalo Bills don’t make the Playoffs, Rex will be looking for another job.

I agree with the Cap’n. Pre-season isn’t really meaningful. It’s another chance for players to get injured in order to earn more money for the owners.

The Chargers are on the way to another city if they don’t get a new stadium in the downtown area. The current stadium is in a much better location, and a new one built there could be state of the art. I’m not sure why the spanos family doesn’t want to pursue that. They were willing to spend their own money to relocate to LA. The Rams beat them to that, and if they go there now, they’ll be second string at best. From all I’ve heard, they’re not willing to spend the LA stadium money here, instead want the taxpayers to foot the bill. We’ll see how that goes when we vote on it.

For now, the Packers are my team. Rodgers even has a house here. Clay Matthews is a dominant force to be reckoned with. Go Pack.

Who knows? The Giants are hopeful, what with the new head coach and Victor Cruz back (until he gets injured again), but it’s a crap shoot at this point. I didn’t watch them lose their opener to Miami last night. Eli Manning didn’t play. They’ll be in Buffalo next Saturday to play the Bills.

This year they play the NFC North (Packers, Lions, Vikings, Bears) and the AFC North (Steelers, Bengals, Ravens, Browns), as well as the Saints and Rams.

Could be worse. It all depends on how they do against the Redskins, Eagles, and the hated Cowboys.

Jeff, the Buffalo Bills have already lost their First Round Pick, Shaq Lawson (DE), to shoulder surgery. They lost their Second Round Pick, Reggie Ragland (ILB), to a torn ACL. But, the Bills did sign their QB, Tyrod Taylor, to a contract extension.

Well, after enough twists and turns for any soap opera, the Jets signed your buddy Ryan Fitzpatrick for a one-year guaranteed $12 contract.

        That’s a mistake.

Jeff, the Buffalo Bills signed Ryan Fitzpatrick to a $50 million contract the year before they released him. Bills fans love Ryan Fitzpatrick but they know he’s a backup QB at best.

The Saints, as usual, look great on paper, but execution…well, only the future will reveal that. They lost their preseason opener to the Patriots, 34-22, but I really don’t think anyone was expecting otherwise, even with the mostly second-stringers both teams fielded. As for Ryan’s “winning the off-season” comments, I have a few in the same vein:

“I won the off-diet weight loss” (diet starts tomorrow; haven’t lost a pound yet).

“I won the off-date with George Clooney” (has never dated George Clooney).

“I won the off-ticket Powerball” (has never won the Powerball).

You too can win all kinds of unquantifiable things with this neat verbal trick!

Deb, Bills fans were unimpressed with Rex Ryan’s “We won the Off-Season” announcement. I think Rex Ryan is the Donald Trump of the NFL!

Wow, so much negativity in this thread. I’m surprised, this is usually the time of hope for the teams, new season and all. I’m very surprised Maggie is abandoning her own home town team. My goodness.

The Seahawks will do the best they can, they have some weaknesses but also strengths. We’ll see. I don’t bother with the preseason games, they are just for the teams to evaluate the players, and mean little except for how rookies may do, what changes the teams are making on schemes (i.e. 3-4 vs. 4-3) and who might get injured. I’ll tune in when the regular season gets started.

I think she feels that the Chargers abandoned the fans.

One thing I noticed when my parents moved West is that my father still supported the Yankees, but he started following the local teams in baseball, first the A’s when they were south of San Francisco, and then the Diamondbacks.

Rick, after missing the Playoffs for 15 years in a row, Bills fans grumpy and impatient. Like me, most Bills fans are skeptical of Rex Ryan and his promises.
