JIM BEAM KENTUCKY FIRE

“Tastes like Heaven but burns like Hell” is the advertising slogan for Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey. It’s the most popular brand of “fire” alcoholic beverages. But I’ve found something better. Remember those Atomic Fireball candies you enjoyed as a kid? Well, Jim Beam has turned their world-famous bourbon into a liquid equivalent. Jim Beam Kentucky Fire gives you that Atomic Fireball candy sensation but also goes down smoothly. Jack Daniels has entered the “fire” competition, too. Jack Daniels Tennessee Fire was in limited release in 2014 but sales must have been good because now it’s available in all 50 states. Obviously, a “fire” drink isn’t for everyone. But, if you like hot stuff, you’ll get a kick out of all three of these beverages. My ranking:
1. Jim Beam Kentucky Fire
2. Jack Daniels Tennessee Fire
3. Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey

I’m getting too old for spicy foods. I just spent a couple of days in the outhouse because of a pizza with spicy sausage. What’s more, I don’t drink hard stuff. But you go ahead and hoist one for me.

Patti, I’m mostly a red wine guy (my doctor says a glass a day is good for my heart), but once in a while I like to try something different.

I’m not a bourbon drinker either. In fact I drink a lot less than I did 30 or 40 years ago, and then mostly wine or beer, Since Jackie rarely if ever drinks at all it’s easier not to, other than occasionally when we’re out. Otherwise I would stick to vodka or gin or tequila. My father was a big Scotch drinker (Dewar’s as a rule) but I’ve never liked it.

Jeff, Art Scott is a single-malt Scotch drinker, too. I’m a sucker for something different like Jim Beam Honey or Jim Beam Kentucky Fire.

On a hot day a cold beer pleases me, but I rarely have 2. On the very rare occasion when I have hard liquor, it’s Jack Black on the rocks. I don’t care for flavored drinks like this, nor flavored coffees and teas. Besides, hard liquor is LOADED with sugar, George. Barbara loves Scotch, but rarely has it, usually drinking Chardonnay.

Rick, I’m with you on hard liquor. Our bodies process alcohol as a carbohydrate so we have to be careful. But once in a while, I like a “different” adult beverage.

Oh, I wish I’d been there when you were doing your three-bottle taste test! I’d have been glad to supervise: “George, I think you should switch the order of sampling on this next round to avoid bias.” “George, I think you should do the next round blindfolded.” “George, that was a mistake, we should have done it double-blind; let’s do that again.” And so on…leaving Diane to pick up the pieces. I tried one of the honey bourbons and found it cloyingly, intolerably sweet; I expect it will put a lot of small kids in emergency rooms.

Art, it would have been fun to have you “supervise” the “Fire” liquor taste test! I only drink that Jim Beam Honey bourbon on Special Occasions. But you might enjoy these “fire” liquors.
