We must live on the lowest part of our block because when it rains, our sump pump runs all the time. Lately, during our rainy season, the sump pump started to emit a grinding sound. Not good.
Since we had Joe the Plumber installing new bathroom faucets, Diane and I decided to ask him to replace our 12-year-old Zoeller submergible sump pump. Joe’s face lit up when I mentioned Zoeller. “That’s the sump pump brand I recommend to all my clients,” Joe said.
After Joe returned from a trip to the plumbing supply store, the sound of a drill and some hammer began. Within an hour, Joe was pouring a bucket of water into the sump and wah-lah!
The new Zoeller sump pump worked flawlessly and much more quietly. Do you have a sump pump?
We do. As did you, I gather, we had one fail and lead to ruin a lot of books a couple of decades back…current one still pumping along.
Todd, if you want to sell a house in Western NY now, you have to have a sump pump. No sump pump, no sale. Installing a sump pump in an older house can cost thousands!

Patti, with all the rain we’ve been getting this month, the new sump pump delivers Peace of Mind. When we lost power in the October Snow Storm of 2006 for three days, our basement flooded and I lost hundreds of books.
That’s part of the beauty of being a renter. You don’t have to worry about things like sump pumps or gutters or frozen pipes or anything else homeowners have to deal with.

In California, so I have never heard much about sump pumps
Maggie, sump pumps are now mandatory in Western NY. Most houses have basements and heavy rains can flood them without a sump pump to protect them.

Yes, we have a sump pump. With all the rain recently, it runs all the time. Our backyard was underwater for almost a week.
We also have a whole house Generac generator – just to make sure the sump pump keeps running.
