MEXICAN JALAPENO PEANUT M&M’s

Mars has brought back its popular Flavor Vote competition, and this time they’ve put an international spin on it. The three flavors, all Peanut M&M varieties, are:

Mexican Jalapeño Peanut M&M’s
English Toffee Peanut M&M’s
Thai Coconut Peanut M&M’s

For this year’s contest, Mars is basically bribing us to take action. Simply cast your vote through the Flavor Vote Website or text “Vote” to 84444 and you’ll be entered to win a trip to all three countries. I’ve sampled the Mexican Jalapeño Peanut M&Ms and the Thai Coconut Peanut M&Ms. I found the Thai Coconut Peanut M&Ms a bit bland with a mild coconut flavor. My favorite was the Mexican Jalapeño Peanut M&Ms which have a nice kick. What’s your favorite candy?

I seem to be missing the craving for sweets that most people have. It’s not that I don’t like them, it’s just that I don’t THINK about them. It’s doubtful that I’ve ever actually bought a package of M & M’s, although if you handed me a bag I’d eat them. If I had a favorite candy, it would be Snickers, and I will admit to a craving for potato chips and other salty snacks.

None of them, though as a coconut fanatic, I’m sure Jackie would pick that one.

Favorites? Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Almond Joy, Bounty (milk chocolate version). But I don’t eat candy very often. We do have bags of Lindt’s Milk Chocolate (and Dark Chocolate for Jackie) Truffles, and have one occasionally if we haven’t overeaten that day.

Jackie loves licorice. So did my mother. Not me.

Actually, George, I was expecting a GAME OF THRONES – The Final Season! thing today. As one of the few people who doesn’t watch it, this is more interesting.

Jeff, I have GAME OF THRONES on Blu-ray, but we’re not caught up yet. I did read George R. R. Martin’s books, but the books and the TV series vary.

I don’t eat any of this sweet stuff (don’t like sweet drinks either) but I like jalapeno – so I’d settle for some hot jalapeno taco chips/pieces.
And that makes me sure that nobody (not even my wife) will steal them – they’re too hot for them all! 🙂

    PS and OT:
My wife is also waiting for GOT – haven’t heard/seen any spoilers yet though there is a lot of speculation going on.
If she’s really lucky her son will bring the first episode on a memory stick (in Hungarian …) as an Easter present when he and his family come to visit us.

Wolf, GAME OF THRONES is a national phenomenon over here. There are all kinds of watch parties going on.

My wife prefers bland food so anything hot and spicy ends up with me.

When I was at physical therapy on Thursday, all the people working there were talking about it and reminding each other “no phone calls on Sunday!”

The same over here in all of Europe – the “last” of GOT and the “last” Star Wars movie .., 🙂
But I’m sure they’re already working on prequels and some kind of sequels.
        OT:
I might already written about this – I was very angry with GRRM that instead of continuing with SF (Sandkings e g) he switched to Fantasy my wife is very happy however!

Wolf, I’m with you. I though George R. R. Martin was a brilliant writer after writing “Sandkings.” But, he’s a multi-millionaire now with his GAME OF THRONES books and TV money.

      4. Todd Mason

Martin was always a fantasy writer as well…and horror. THE ARMAGEDDON RAG was his “biggest” book up to that point…Boomer-stroking fantasy…

Todd, I always found George R. R. Martin to be a talented writer whether he was working in the SF or the Fantasy genres. I’m not sure the GAME OF THRONES books represent Martin’s best writing. But they sure made him a ton of money!

Though I can’t eat candy often, due to my diabetes, once in a while I love a fudge brownie, made from the Ghirardelli mix. Prepackaged? Milky Way, Red Vines, regular Peanut M&Ms. None of those funky flavors for me, please.

I am definitely up for those too!

I liked Martin’s pre-GOT stuff, including Armageddon Rag and the vampire on the Mississippi book.

Jeff, George R. R. Martin’s early works–pre-GAME OF THRONES–are very expensive now. Collectors will pay Big Bucks for those early Martin titles!

        Aren’t they all in paperback???

I haven’t read or seen any Game of Thrones books, movies, but they sure are popular. I think I have SONG OF ICE AND FIRE in a thick pb somewhere.

Best diabetic candy tends to be the candy-store items. Russell Stover bags are an acceptable, if also relatively expensive, substitute, and in most supermarkets and drugstores.

Best candy pre-diagnosis were some Kirsh liquor bars my friend in Switzerland would mail me from time to time.

Most common candy these days is 90+% cocoa bars from Lindt and Ghiradeli…very little sugar per bar, if no end of fat. Rather too bitter for Alice. Good eaten with blueberries, or with low-sugar wafers (thus mimicking Little Soldier and similar cookies from France and Germany).

GAME OF THRONES, like THE WALKING DEAD, still strikes me as fantasy 101 (or horror adventure 101) whenever I give them much of a chance. Still mean to give AMERICAN GODS a shot…NOW APOCALYPSE is, in the few episodes I’ve tried, modestly amusing…almost as clever as WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS. The new version of CHARMED is also not too shabby, though I’ve barely watched it (can make fun of the weak-tea original and in tonight’s repeat, making fun of most other recent fantasy series, including BUFFY on through SUPERNATURAL to LUCIFER…and others…

Todd, I’m on the bubble with WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS. I’ve watched all the FX episodes so far. I’m going to watch a few more episodes before I render an opinion.

Of the three favors offered jalapeno would be my third choice! I like it in my Mexican food occasionally, but nowhere else! Favorite candy is anything with milk chocolate, caramel, peanuts, peanut butter, or almonds!
