MIDNIGHT REVERIE By Ghirardelli

As a diabetic, I’m always on the lookout for low-carb food that tastes good. I stumbled onto Midnight Reverie by Ghirardelli Chocolates by chance. Much of Ghiradelli’s line has too much sugar in it for a diabetic to eat it regularly. But Ghirardelli has a line of chocolates with less sugar, but more cocoa. Midnight Reverie has 86% cocoa, Twilight Delight has 72% cocoa, and Evening Dream has 60% cocoa. It all depends on your taste. Obviously, the more cocoa, the more intense the chocolate sensation. Midnight Reverie has 14 grams of carbohydrates but 5 grams of fiber so the net carb load is only 9 grams. That’s a third of the carbs of most chocolate candy. If you’re a chocoholic like I am, give the Ghirardelli dark chocolate line a try. You won’t be sorry.

My husband’s favorite (and he’s not a diabetic). When it comes to chocolate, the darker & higher the cocoa percentage, the better he likes it. He always says milk chocolate gives cocoa a bad name.

Like your husband, I prefer dark chocolate to milk chocolate, Deb. At 85 % cocoa, the chocolate can help lower blood pressure. And, it contains plenty of anti-oxidants, too! I try to convince my wife that I’m eating a health food when I snack on some Midnight Reverie.

I’ll have to show this to Jackie, who is the dark chocoholic in this household. I must admit I still prefer milk.

Five grams of fiber is excellent.

The whole Ghirardelli INTENSE DARK line of chocolates are very good, Jeff. I prefer the MIDNIGHT REVERIE, but I can also recommend the TWILIGHT DELIGHT and EVENING DREAM. Yummy!

Jackie says fruits and vegetables do the same job, and without the calories.

But they don’t taste like chocolate, do they?

Chocolate is vegetable-adjacent, Bill. George, as you know, the big problem there, as Jeff’s Jackie notes, is that these bars are fat-bombs, caloric as all get out. But damned tasty, if one likes not so sweet dark choc, as I always have. Sometimes a bit sour.
