The Buffalo Bills and Highmark Stadium will have a new look tonight when the New England Patriots show up for an AFC Conference battle. The Bills will be wearing their new “PATS WEEK” white jerseys–another NFL marketing scheme to sell more merchandise–and the crowd has been encouraged wear white. So, even though it’s predicted to be 80 degrees tomorrow–unusual for Western NY in October–it will look like blizzard conditions on your TV screen.
The 4-0 Buffalo Bills are 7 1/2 point favorites over the 2-2 Patriots. I’m expecting a tough game. How will your favorite NFL team do today?
Doesn’t the NFL Fashion Police realize that white should be worn before Labor Day?
Jerry, if it were snowing at Highmark Stadium tonight, no one watching would see the Bills on the field!
George, I truly feel that this is the Bills’ year…but it’s a long season and we can’t predict the future. Meanwhile, the rudderless Saints (0-4 and still searching for their first win) host the not-quite-as-hapless 1-3 Giants in the Super Dome today. To put it mildly, Clash of the Titans it ain’t. I’ll keep half an eye on the game, but we’re going to Julia’s to celebrate my birthday, and there are also baseball playoff games going on, so my attention won’t be entirely football-focused today to say the least.
Deb, I’m sure Jeff Meyerson is rooting for the NY Giants to win another game. But, the Saints gave the Bills trouble last week so they could win today.
As Deb said, the no-longer-winless Giants will be trying to build on their victory over the previously undefeated Chargers today in the Dome. Let’s hope Jaxson Dart continues to grow vs. the hapless (as Deb said) Saints.
Enjoy your post-birthday birthday celebration, Deb.
Jeff, Dart surprised everyone last week. Can he do it again this week?
I think our Glorious Leader needs to appoint Jerry to the next opening on the Fashion Police Force.
Hmm…Secretary of the Trump Fashion Police. I can see it, Jeff. I can be as bootlicking as the next sycophant. At the next cabinet meeting, I’d be like: “Sir, it is a true honor to serve you. And may I say that nobody in the entire world has ever worn cankles as well as you.”
Since the chargers left San Diego, I root for other teams, the Chiefs and Bills mainly. I rooted for the Giants last week against the chargers which surprised me. I’m now more of a MLB fan. Though I only go to one game per year, for the 3rd year we’ll be going to spring training in the Phoenix area. This year, using Marriott points for free nights very near the complex. The first year I went I learned later Otto Penzler was at the same game. Added bonus is a Culver’s ice cream near the complex.
Maggie, I was surprised by the 10-1 beatdown the Toronto Blue Jays inflicted on the NY Yankees!
It was 2-1 going into the 7th. I looked on it as a must win for Toronto, as they had a week’s preparation time going in, the Yankees were coming off an emotional series against the Red Sox, and the Yankees were using their fourth starter.
We’ll see how today goes.
Jeff, Toronto looks hot!
Go Lions, Go Tigers!
Patti, I watched some of the Lions vs. Brown. The Lions look like a Super Bowl team!
I tried watching the Seahawks, but they screwed up so often with penalties and bad tackling, I retreated to my room! As soon as I did, they scored a touchdown! I’ll have to stay here all afternoon, it seems!
Halftime. For dinner I made Buffalo Wings (A. Brown recipe) – honest – not knowing the Bills were going to be the evening feature. Thus far a not-so-scintillating 6-3, but lots of time for the guys in white to wake up. Let’s hope so!
And 2 minutes after I posted the above, the Bills score a TD! Good Juju I hope!
Art, too little, too late…
Art, no wake-up for the Bills. More mistakes, dropped balls, and mis-cues. Hopefully, the Bills will perform better on Monday Night Football.
