NEW YORK JETS VS. BUFFALO BILLS

For the first time in the 2018 NFL season, the Buffalo Bills are favored over an opponent. This week, the Bills (4-8) are 3 1/2 point favorites over the New York Jets (3-9). Neither of these teams are going anywhere this season so the only reason to watch this game is the play of rookie QBs Sam Darnold for the Jets and Josh Allen for the Bills. The weather will be cold (32 degrees) but sunny. No snow in the forecast. How will your favorite NFL team do today?

I had to look this stadium up – 70 000 seats, the only one in Germany bigger than that is the Olympic stadium in Berlin …
At 32F i e zero degrees Celsius will it be sold out?
Didn’t think tere would be such a big stadium in a provincial town … 😉

Wolf, New Era Stadium (aka, Rich Stadium and Ralph Wilson Stadium) was originally an 80,000 seat stadium. Over the decades, modifications have reduced the seating somewhat. Now, the new owners of the Buffalo Bills are “exploring” the possibility of building a new stadium.

Wolf, I think George will take issue with you over that “provincial town” comment!

After a dispiriting loss to the Cowboys ten days ago, the 10-2 Saints journey to Tampa to take on the 5-7 Buccaneers. With a win today, the Saints could wrap up the NFC South. However, the Bucs already beat the Saints once this season and if the lethargic team that played Dallas a week-and-a-half ago shows up, who knows what the outcome will be?

Deb, the NY Jets might be playing lethargically today. But, then again, so might the Bills. Both teams might prefer to lose to improve their chances in the NFL Draft. I think the Saints will win in Tampa!

Sorry, that was a surprise for me, not meant as a disparaging remark – I just looked it up:
      70 000 seats for a city with around 250 000 inhabitants?
A European city of that size might have a stadium with 20 000 seats – and be proud of it too.
Only the European capitals have such large stadiums.

Of course I know that Buffalo like many other cities was hit hard by de-industrialisation in the USA.

Wolf, plenty of Canadian Buffalo Bills fans make the trek over the International Bridges to attend the game. Also, the Buffalo Metropolitan area includes 1,135,509 people, more than enough to fill a football stadium.

    Go, Saints!

The Giants are playing another meaningless game in Washington, and without Odell Beckham, so it isn’t looking good. But since the Redskins quarterback will be Mark “Butt Fumble” Sanchez, I wouldn’t count them out.

I have hopes the packers will win, but this season is lost for them. Geaux Saints. (Also hoping the Rams keep winning. I do hope for good things for Rivers and Gates, but not the team)

George, that spread on your game is just home field. Re: the comments on “meaningless” games: they are not meaningless to the coaches and players who are working to improve and save / protect their jobs for next season!

Seahawks play the Vikings tomorrow, and, well, we’ll see. Seahawks have surprised me the last couple of weeks.

Rick, apparently the Bills coaches and players weren’t sufficiently motivated to win because the Jets did. However, the Bills’ Draft position improves.
