NFL DIVISIONAL PLAYOFFS, PART TWO

I’ve admired the grit of the Seattle Seahwaks all season long. And I’m proud of Pete Carroll for making the QB switch to Russell Wilson (who the Bills could have drafted in the Third Round, but didn’t). The Atlanta Falcons defense is suspect. And a heavy dose of Marshawn Lynch should wear them down. I’m going with the Seahawks in the early game which kicks off at 1 P.M. ET on FOX. Bill Crider says the Texans will get blown out in Foxboro. Tom Brady and the Patriots have had two weeks to prepare for this game. I’m going with the Patriots. Kickoff is at 4:30 P.M. ET on CBS. Who do you like in these games?

    Seahawks and Patriots.

I still can’t believe with a three man rush and eight defensive backs the Broncos let that guy get behind them. With a minute to go and no time outs your job is to put pressure on the quarterback so he doesn’t have time to look for other receivers.

    Bah, they gave it away.

In the early game (10 am here) we’ll be pulling for the Seahawks, of course. I expect the Patriots to win the second game. But then I expected to favored-by-11 Broncos to win too. I hope whomever plays Baltimore next gives them a good old fashioned beatdown. I also think if Atlanta wins today and has to play San Francisco, the Niners will win that one.

I expected the Seahawks to be a lot better. For the “hottest team in football” they are going nowhere.

The Seahawks came back, Jeff. But the hole was too deep. Atlanta won, but they didn’t impress me. I think the Niners will crush them next week.

Bummer for all you Seahawks fans. They just dug too deep a hole. I still think they could have won. They left too much time on the clock and I would have tried to put pressure on the quarterback. They only needed a field goal. Bummer.

The Seahawk clock management at the end of the first half was brutal, Jeff. The Seahawks got hot in the second half, but as you point out, the hole was too deep.

Boy that was one emotional rollercoaster of a game. I bet the Seahawks fans were beside themselves. The best thing that could have happened was them not to have made that last touchdown on the run that was reviewed and then they could have run a bit more time off the clock.

The ol’ prevent defense did its magic again and cost the team a game.

The Seahawks had two chances for field goals in the first half and chose to go for TD’s instead. Foolish. Calloing time out when the Falcon’s kicker missed the final FG. Foolish. The coach lost that game with a few poor decisions. Damn!

Bob, I agree with you on Pete Carroll’s flawed decisions in the Atlanta game. Those field goal opportunities in First Half could have changed the game. I hate it when coaches try to “ice” the kicker.
