NFL WILD CARD WEEKEND 2023 (PART 1): CLEVELAND BROWNS VS. HOUSTON TEXANS, MIAMI DOLPHINS VS. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

I’ll be rooting for the Cleveland Browns over the Houston Texans. The Browns are 2 1/2 point favorites. In the late game, both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins will be playing in frigid temperatures. The Chiefs are favorited by 4 1/2 points but the weather may change the Playoff conditions Big Time! Plus, Taylor Swift will be in attendance! Who do you think will win?

As Todd referenced, I think it is despicable that you need to pay for Peacock to see a playoff game. I guess the NFL doesn’t make enough money?

Who do I think will win? Cleveland and Kansas City. Miami has collapsed lately and they have never won a playoff game when it is under 40 degrees, let alone below zero, as it might be today. Joe Flacco rules! Unbelievable.

Jeff, this Peacock Playoff Game exclusive is just a scam to get NFL fans to become Peacock subscribers. It’s always about the money.

John was saying that at least one of the games has been moved to regular NBC, so perhaps there was some pushback against making people subscribe to a streaming service just to watch a game. Now the Saints are done for the season, I have no skin in the game—although we’ll undoubtedly have the games on (we already had Peacock). But I’ll be busy most of the afternoon lmaking Oxtail Stew—it’s certainly the weather for it. It’s not Kansas City windchill cold here, but cold enough that stew sounds really good!

Here in Louisiana, we’re heading into our annual three days of “temperatures below freezing—everybody panic!” Snow was forecast for Baton Rouge this coming Tuesday, but I think that’s been revised, still we’re expecting to have to run our pipes Tuesday and Wednesday, and the lows will be in the teens.

Deb, Western NY had unusually warm temps for November and December–very little snow and cold–but January looks like a Winter Wonderland right now! Big Orange is ready to roll!

The waitress in the restaurant today said it’s been raining down here since before Christmas. Thank you, El Nino. Looks like a rainy week too, as it is in New York. But it certainly isn’t cold. It was 84 yesterday and felt like 88 – unbearably humid. Today hit 82 early, but was overcast and windy and felt a lot cooler. And once the rain started, the temperature fell. It is 68 now, so nowhere near Western New York or Kansas City or even Slidell. Looks like a week in the 70s.
