Panasonic RX-D550 Boombox

With Trump’s Tariffs driving up prices, I decided to buy this Panasonic Boombox with Portable Stereo AM/FM Radio, Bluetooth, CD, with USB 110-240 instead of waiting. Flare-shaped bass reflex ports help ensure smoother airflow, reducing air turbulence, to provide full-bodied warm bass tones. It sounds great!

I work in my basement frequently and listen to CDs while I’m sorting books and lugging boxes. But…I have a big basement. Sure, I could move my SONY Boombox (you can read my review here) across the basement. Or, I could have TWO great sounding Boomboxes to listen to on opposite sides of my basement full of books. I opted for TWO! GRADE: A

You and Jackie have the same idea. They’re practically backing the Amazon delivery truck up to the door every day. Stimulating the economy. Her latest was three T-shirts for me, two 22 packs of Lipton Diet Pineapple Mango drink, many more tops and shoes for her, more sheet sets with deep pockets, chair mats for the den, followed by new valance curtains for the den to match the mats, pullover polo shirts for me, AA batteries, yoga pants for her, a sweatshirt for me, more towels, a box of Splenda, and two jars of gefilte fish.

And that was only the last couple of weeks!

Jeff, Jackie is certainly keeping the Economy afloat despite the Trump Tariffs! A friend of mine bought a new Chevy SUV before Trump announced his Tariffs.

We got our car and refrigerator last year.

Jackie encouraged my cousins to buy a new car when they were in Florida, and they did buy a second Forester before they left.

Jeff, there’s a lag between the institution of the Tariffs and the actual price-increase at the checkout counter. Most of the price hikes will hit in June and July.

I shop at Walmart at least once a week—it’s my main stop for basic groceries—and I can tell you as someone who tends to buy the same things week in and week out, prices are going up. Trump may be telling Walmart to “eat the tariffs”, but they’re passing them on to the consumer. Perhaps what would work is not having tariffs in the first place, but I know I’d be living in a fool’s paradise to think that’s gonna happen.

We buy the odd thing in Walmart when we’re in Florida, but mostly shop in Publix. Here, there is no Walmart in the city, and the one we go to on Long Island is pretty lousy. Fortunately, we have FIVE supermarkets in our neighborhood, so there is plenty of choice, depending on sales that week. We get our milk and fruit in Costco. But yes, prices are definitely going up. Eggs are down, but not the 83% (or whatever random number he pulled out of his ass) that Trump claimed.

Jeff, Diane and I shop at BJ’s Warehouse about once a month. Like you and Deb, we buy the same things over and over. But our last visit to BJ’s gave us sticker shock: what had been a $220 bill for groceries was suddenly $300! Brutal!

Deb, few companies are going to “eat the Tariffs.” If they did, they’d go out of business! A tariff is a tax, pure and simple. Trump is taxing all of us to pay for his BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL.

I’ve been on a similar wavelength, picking up some Sangean FM radios for my studio, bedroom and kitchen. They get great reception, sound fantastic and have a cool retro look. I’ve been shifting away from turning on the TV in the background and listening to the classical stations in my area. I’m one of those weidos who obsesses about the condition of his CDs so I only play them on the larger player in the living room.

That is a fine looking boombox and it’s nice to see Panasonic is still in business.

Byron, I have two Sangean AM/FM radios: one the the kitchen and the other for the bedroom. As you say, they sound fantastic. I like their cool retro look, too!
